We took the train from Seattle to Los Angeles for a fun get away. The trip was 36 hours, just long enough to get the feel of train travel. The crew were really friendly and helpful. I enjoyed all the no-nonsense announcements given with a little tongue-in-cheek humor. The scenery was beautiful for the most part, but you do get... More

So glad we decided on this train journey instead of flying to Seattle. So much to see and a lot more relaxing. Make sure you get a sleeper cabin as you get your own shower facilities etc. Food & non alcoholic drinks included in your ticket price. Eat in the dining car as you get more of a choice here.... Superlative service. Good views of west coast. Food in dining room was good with courteous waitress. They take reservations which expiates service. If you have the time to travel, this is the mod comfortable and stress-free way to go! We will do it again.

The Amtrak Coast Starlight runs between Los Angeles and Seattle, stopping at points in between. The coach tickets offer a very affordable option. First class passengers are given several private room options, access to the vintage restored Parlor Car, a movie theater, and all meals. Some trains have a playroom for small children. First class train travel is expensive and... More

This is a very scenic train route from Seattle to Los Angeles. Mountains to Beaches. Travel in a sleeper and get all the first class perks such as the Parlor Car which is unique to this train route.

A Beautiful journey from LA to Emeryville (San Francisco), plenty of seat space, polite informative train staff & easy to walk around the train to buffet car etc. As we were only going from LA to Emeryville (approx 10hrs) we didn't need a roomette, but apparently Wifi was only available for roomette customers - travelling with 2 teenagers that wasn't... Amtrak Coast Starlight This train runs from Los Angeles to Portland, OR. We boarded in Los Angeles for a 10 hour trip to Emeryville which is just across the bay from San Francisco. We had a 5 hour wait between trains which highlighted another positive aspect of train travel. When you have a long layover in airline travel you are... More

My family was not seated by an attendant, and no seat was available for myself and my 2 children, so we were asked to sit with our luggage in the observation deck while a space was created for us. While my two small children and I sat in the observation car, a swearing fight broke out that lasted for at... More

Amtrak: There were so many announcements from the dining car, conductor including when folks were taking a break and need for reservations, it was irritating. Would have rated a 4 if the dining announcements wasn't so annoying and aggressive. Got on in Seattle and travelled over night to Emoryville, CA. A bus is waiting to take passengers to San Fran,... The Coast Starlight is a choice Amtrak train, with the restored Parlour Car giving a second dinning option, wifi, wine tastings, movie screenings, and comfortable seating for passengers sitting in first class. And so long as you're in first class - get the ensuite room. Not just for the private toilet and shower, but the orientation of the beds. US... More
