Recently traveled from Los Angeles CA to Klamath Falls OR on the Coast Starlight with bedroom accommodation. Service was excellent throughout. Upon checking in at the upstairs lounge in LA Union Station, Maria took our checked baggage and directed us to complimentary beverages. Later, at boarding time, she escorted sleeper passengers to the platform. Our sleeping car attendant, Roman, was... More

just got back from holiday, the only part that was really bad was the amtrak train from niagara falls to new york(penn station) it took over 11hrs to get there, worst idea ever, it crawled to it's destination. ANYONE EVEN CONSIDERING THIS AMTRAK LINE DO NOT DO IT! wish we hadn't. date of travel...12/08/2014.....

We took the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Portland a trip of 30 hours and traveled in a sleeper bedroom so had a small bathroom with all facilities in our room and free meals, we had the use of observation, and dining car and there was even a small cinema on board which showed Lego the Movie while we... After taking Cascades from Vancouver BC to Portland, took Starlight a few days later to San Francisco. Scenery is nice but not like through Canadian Rockies. If traveling Amtrak definitely go business class or a sleeper; far more comfortable and better service, without being too pricy compared to air. Our Portland-San Francisco train was delayed 8 hours, 7 due to... More

I cannot put into words this experience, I will never do this again. I have traveled via train many times, however this was the 1st time traveling coach since childhood & nothing seems to have changed since then...no joke. Traveling coach on this train we were definitely treated like a sub-class; it really blew my mind & shocked me that... More

We are still on this nightmare trip in our sleeper car. We had previously ridden up to PDX on this train and it was a wonderful experience. The train attendants were very helpful and the food servers were very friendly and nice. There was even a 5 hour arrival delay that didn't diminish our satisfaction with the trip. This trip... More

I have taken the Coast Starlight a few times now, each time getting a sleeper. It’s nicer to spend the extra money and have your privacy. I have been on the train for 9ish hours and this way, I can relax and my son can watch movies in our sleeper or nap… The food is actually pretty good, and the... More

Leaving Emeryville the train was late and when departure time is already late at 10 pm it makes for a long night even though there isn't much they can do about it. When the train arrived I was shocked when my mobility disabled husband and I had to walk past the end of the train and continue to haul our... More

As a frequent visitor to Santa Barbara, I don't always feel like driving. Many times I have opted for the train, which I did on this last trip. The Amtrak Coast Starlight goes from Seattle to Los Angeles and I catch the train in Jack London Square, Oakland. The trip is about 9 hours, leaving at around 9:00 a.m. and... More

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: My old Seabee unit from the Vietnam era decided to have a reunion in Albany OR, beginning Friday August 8th, with a dinner planned for that evening at the local VFW. My wife & I decided we'd take the AMTRAK Starlight (train #14) out of San Luis Obispo, CA , Thursday August 7th & planned... More
