Hop out of your comfort zone and do it. Hire a car if you have to (Dollar Rent a Car - cheapest and no dramas) Do San Francisco to San Diego as you are on the coast side and not looking across from the other side of the road. Allow a few days, as you WILL get stuck behind (some)... More

Pacific Coast Highway - Route 1 (PCH) is a grand drive, we drove from San Jose to Los Angeles along the drive. PCH has beautiful scenery, beaches, towns and sleepy villages. 17 mile drive summarizes everything in a short drive. If you are a Seals fan, PCH has couple great Rookery. If you drive and are on the West coast,... More

This is a major historical route and needs TIME to be seen and appreciated. Read everybody else's reviews and do your research. I suggest three days at least! Definitely do SOUTHBOUND as you will be on the ocean side but be careful of people northbound deciding to zip in front of you to get a picture. The section from San... More

This is America's Amalfi Coast, as this drive offers spectacular views and lengthy stretches of road that invite introspection and inspired conversation with someone who will appreciate such a drive as much as you will. Do allow some lingering time at Big Sur, it's as close to finding religion as you'll get if you need a terrestrial catalyst... Also, do... More

What more can be written about this beautiful ride? Driving the PCH is a journey in and of itself. It's not how fast you get there, but how much you take in the beauty along the way. Not advisable for large vehicles and especially not RVs, this windy road is best suited for a two-seater with the top down, ocean... More

We drove south from San-Francisco to Morro Bay in two days. My first recommendation is to take it easy, more than two days would have been better if we had more time. We thought that the best part would be the 17-miles-drive - WRONG. It was OK, but not more than that. Try to do that part in the evening,... More

This is my first trip to California and one of my things to do in my bucket list!!. I was not disappointed and will forever treasure the breath taking views all through the drive. You definitely need time to do it since there is so many beautiful places to stop and take pictures or just to admire the beautiful views... More

Pros: Some of the most beautiful vistas in the world. Constantly rated as one of the most beautiful drives in the world by National Geographic and other travel magazines. You see towering cliffs over the pacific, birds occasionally seals and whales and plenty of redwood forests. countless turnouts and stopping point so even the driver can really get a chance... More

We visited this region while travelling from San Francisco to Carmel. It was not as attractive as many of the beaches and coastlines we have been to in the UK,Australia and New Zealand. It was fairly ordinary and didn't live up to expectations
