We hired a couple of Harleys from Caramel and set off along this route. The only problem we faced was that the view was so breathtaking every few metres, that we were constantly stopping :) Not to mention the very quaint stops along the way, such as the Big Sur river inn, where you can buy your lunch, walk down... It does not get better than this. Absolutely breathtaking views. Could do this drive every year. I like that there is a lot of turnouts for picture taking and to let the faster cars go by. Will do this again.

We used this Highway Route no.1 from LA all the way to San Francisco in Nov 2012 and I must say, it's well worth it even though the highway itself lacks of dual carriageway and it took so much longer time to go all the way to SF. Great view of the ocean, spectacular view of the mountains and great... More

I love taking 101 from Encinitas to LA I take time to visit the art galleries in Laguna Beach and the beautiful renovated beach areas and state parks like Crystal Cove. Newport has roadwork for infra structure improvements and close to Long Beach business clutters and slows you too!

This drive is as magical as the Great Ocean Road on the south west coast of Victoria, Australia. Stunning views and great places to stop and eat/surf/walk along the way. Bestest bit of all was the red, open topped, V8, Chevy Corvette I drove in. It's a fantastic driver's road and the slower traffic was just incredible using the turnouts... More

Wow. What a terrific drive up the coast. So many beaches and scenic spots to stop and enjoy. The views are spectacular. All the waves crashing along the coastline are superb.

Most people know of the Big Sur between San Simeon and Carmel but the section over the Golden Gate Bridge from Muir Woods to Mendocino is just as good in many ways. If you like seafood, there are lots of places to stop and the scenery is amazing.

We spent 3 days driving up the Coast on Route 1 from Huntington Beach to San Francisco. The drive from San Simeon to Monterey was spectacular with breathtaking views around every turn. Pictures do not do it justice. We were fortunate to see over 30 whale sitings along the coast including a pod playing close to the shore that drew... More

We took the Pacific Coast highway starting in San Francisco and we Went down to LA. When we planned our trip I thought it will take couple of more hours to take this road and I thought that the pictures on the internet are too good to be true. Well I could not have been more wrong! Its what you... More
