Great leisurely drive along the scenic CA coast. We drove from the Golden Gate to the Point Reyes Lighthouse on a foggy Sunday morning. The roads are fun to drive, lots of sharp turns and steep cliffs to make you feel as if you're in a car commercial. Be sure to have an attentive passenger to help keep a sharp... More

My very favorite drive/vacation in the United States. Pacific Coast Highway is so beautiful, interesting, adventurous, fabulous views of the ocean. We love driving to and staying at Cambria, CA - going to Big Sur and stopping to breathe the freshest air in the world : ) and eat at Nepenthes restaurant. That drive from there to Carmel is truly... We traveled Monterey to Santa Barbara along the famous Highway 1 and the drive exceeded our expectations. Unbelievable views, lots of great stops and opportunities for amazing pictures. Make sure to stop at Big Sur, the Julia Pfiefer State Park, and anywhere you can pull over. This was definitely a drive of a lifetime. Another highlight was a tour of... More

The first 100 miles or so of the PCH started at Carmel Highlands offers some nice views. However, if you have ever been to Hawaii and driven the roads along the coast, for example The Road to Hanna on Maui, you're awe-inspiring moments along the PCH will be limited. Be sure and do research ahead of time as there are... More

We left Oakland to venture south to Los Angeles. It was a bit if a hassle cutting across to the PCH, but we're glad we did. This is hands down the most beautiful road in the country. You cannot rush this ride, but then nobody drives the PCH to "make time." Stunning, often breathtaking vistas are around every turn of... More

We journeyed from Carmel to Santa Barbara (via Paso Robles) and took the coastal route. The views of the Pacific and the coast are simply stunning. Be prepared for frequent stops and a low average speed (Santa Barbara is about the limit of what you can do from Carmel) but also prepare to be amazed - we saw lots (and... More
