Drove from LA to Carmel onto San Francisco and this road is ok in parts. A lot of it is in town so you don't see these amazing views you're expecting around each corner. Big Sur, 17mile drive and Pigeon Point for me are the highlights. Plus it took about 10hours, over two days to drive.

Such a beautiful drive. Long, winding road by the ocean. Dramatic cliffs around Carmel! Would not recommend with small kids.

What an extraordinary road. Combined with the big ocean view, the beautiful mountains that lies behind you and the road that just keeps on going, getting prettier with every mile you pass. Me and a friend drove all the way from San Fransisco to L.A through Highway One. It was everyone's advice. Choose the right season and you'll be amazed!

If this is currently not in your bucket list, it really should as this is one of the most beautiful drives. The magic happens between Morro Bay and Santa Cruz. Cliffs, bridges, waterfalls, and sea will accompany you for the drive and it always gets amazing. It's a good idea to plan for a plenty of time as you'll want... More

I have to admit I was a bit put off of the idea of driving CA-1 by some reviews about slow traffic, slow driving as I HATE slow traffic. But for you slow traffic haters like me this drive will make a happy slow driver out of you. Just to drive it straight through probably takes 3 hours. We took... More

Driving Highway 1 can be very slow, but usually not because of traffic. You'll just want to stop and take pictures every few minutes!!! The views of the hills, cliffs and rocks as they meet the Pacific will take your breath away. In the spring, you'll see masses of bright orange California poppies everywhere and you may even see smaller... More

If your thinking about driving the Pacific Coast Highway stop thinking and just do it. On a drive from Monterey to Santa Barbara that is meant to take approx 4.5 - 5 hours took us 7-8 hours Leaving Monterey and heading for the Big Sur as our starting point the scenery just got more breathtaking every corner we turned! The more I drive or cycle along Highway 1 the more I fall in love with it. There are many very interesting places to stop and sights to see. Not to mention the stunning views of the pacific Ocean and its beaches. This is one of the reasons that makes California such a special State. Do not miss out on... More

Start anywhere you like, maybe at the Oregon border, or all the way down at the Mexican border, your choice. Where ever you choose, just point your car in the proper direction and enjoy the view. All of the Golden State awaits your inspection, from the treed and green north all the way down, past Mendocino, the Bay Area, Monterey,... More

From Venice Beach to Malibu, this is the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. I loved driving up the West Coast and seeing the sights. If you are in the Los Angeles area, DO NOT miss this.
