This is one of those trips that are a must do! I drove south from San Fran to LA on PCH 1 over 3 days, for the shear thrill of driving a red Mustang Convertible, I could easily have done it in a day and just enjoyed the wind in my hair! The drive southbound puts you on this side... More

There aren't many words to describe the beauty and serenity in a drive along the PCH. It's winding curves and cliffs add to the adventure as you hear the waves crashing against the rocks. But pack your patience, depending on when you plan to take a drive, Sundays are pretty bad with out-of-towner's returning home from I-15, I-10 and points... More

On a rare day off while conducting business in California, decided to drive from Santa Cruz south down the PCH all the way to LA. Took about 7 hours total. A beautiful, clear, sunny Saturday afternoon in mid-December. I won't try to find words to describe the beauty, sounds of the ocean, and smell of the sea - there are... More

My wife and I and our youngest child drove this one day before a conference in August. What an amazing experience! Around nearly every corner was something new to see. At points the road near the water's edge, at other points in was high above the water, and yet at others there was much rocky structure to see. We stopped... More

This has some of the most amazing views I have ever seen and they are so varied! Started in San Francisco, travelling up through areas that look like they belong in a western then moving on down the coast. You get the big surr! Wooded area with plenty of areas to stop and enjoy the views. Along the way you... More

Started in Olympia Washington and ended in San Francisco, Ca. This stretch of coast has so many amazing veiws, state parks, camping and is full of things to do and see. The Oregon coast is by FAR the best part of the trip. There are hundreds of great State parks and many of them have campgrounds. These State park campgrounds... More

Let's not forget the stretch north of SF: rugged coastline, redwood forests, little fishing towns with fresh crab coming in, affordable lodging with direct access to the beach and having the road virtually to yourself. Don't just focus on the southern stretch: there is more out there.

Left Santa Monica and took a quick trip up the highway to see Malibu. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful drive. Stopped and had some lunch and enjoyed the sunshine on a patio on the water. Very nice!

We hired a couple of Harleys from Caramel and set off along this route. The only problem we faced was that the view was so breathtaking every few metres, that we were constantly stopping :) Not to mention the very quaint stops along the way, such as the Big Sur river inn, where you can buy your lunch, walk down...
