The PCH is a trip in itself. Be sure to allow more time then you think you need. You do not want to get in a position to be trying to get somewhere by a certain time and be trying to pass cars and trailers on this beautiful road that follows the curvy contours of the rugged coastline. Allow time... More

We started in San Francisco and head down to Huntington Beach. Really need to do this in more than one day. But if you only have one day would highly recommend our trip... First stop: Road side farmers market with fresh produce right out of the field. There just isn't anything better. Second stop: Carmel by the Sea. Watched the... More

There is nothing like driving the PCH, the views, the weather, the towns, the ocean, seeing the Channel Islands in the distance. Take a train or drive, leave flying for somewhere less perfect than California.

The PCH is worthwhile and interesting all the way from LA to San Francisco, but the absolute highlights are the Big Sur, south of Carmel, and the Skyline Drive from Carmel to San Francisco. There are few places on earth more beautiful than the coastline of Big Sur. And Skyline Drive gives you views of the ocean to the west,... More

Do yourself a favour when travelling between LA and San Francisco and drive down Highway 1 in stead of flying...it is absolutely breath-taking! One of the most beautiful and scenic drives I have done in my life. And take enough time to really experience it. We drove over two days, staying over in one of the towns half-way to LA... More

Drive, ride, walk, run, crawl along the PCH from Carmel to Big Sur. Do whatever it takes to see this part of the world. Be aware of what you are looking at as well as that others are looking at the same thing and may be distracted. I highly encourage you to ride this section on a bike, in fact... More

Pacific Coast Highway it truly one of the most scenic rides in the world, but ... If you are driving down the Pacific Coast Highway and you see something that looks like the accompanying photos, that is a signal that its time to stop for the night. Those beautiful plumes of fog down below will soon be up and covering... More

At least once, everybody needs to drive the Pacific Coast Highway. From San Francisco to SLO is a great trip. Plan on a full day, start around 9 in the morning from either end, stop at the pull offs routinely. Plan on lunch at the Riverside in Big Sur. Sit back, enjoy a nice lunch then finish off your trip.... More
