Wow! We loved every second of this trip...stayed in LA, Anaheim, Santa Monica, Santa Barbra, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and San Francisco and travelled with my husband and 4 year old daughter. We loved every town and the views on the drives were out of this world! I would recommend this drive to anyone, as there really is something for... More

We have traveled this route in CA and OR on a regular basis. Amazing views, and lots of attractions along the route, including great beaches, State Parks, interesting small towns, nice B&B's and hotels.

while Highway 1 in the state of California is a road that travels through most of the 840 mile coastline, my review is about the roads to the north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge from Santa Cruz in the south to Stenson Beach in the north. Beside being in my own backyard as a resident of San Francisco,... More

This is obviously a must-see drive up the coast. I'll confine my remarks to tips for non-hikers. 1. Get gas well before you enter the 100-mile coastline. If you gas up at Ragged Point, you'll pay $2 more per gallon. 2. Ragged Point is a nice place for a stop and a decent meal. They have pleasant outdoor seating and... More

This is seriously the best roadtrip ever!!! We spent 3 days on the road driving from SF to SD and it was an amazing experience. The first day we took off from San Francisco and stopped in Carmel and in Point Lobos and then continued south to Cambria where we spent the night, the views are breathtaking but try doing... More

Outside of historic Route 66, beautiful Route 1, or Pacific Coast Highway, is a drive to experience and treasure. Not only is it one of the longest north/south highways, it is clearly the most beautiful. From the rocky, pine-sprinkled, picturesque beaches and cliffs of Big Sir to the famous public beaches and top surfing spots of Southern California, you will... More

The Pacific Coast Highway (otherwise known as Highway 1 in California) is 656 miles long. But if you can't drive the entire length of it, I recommend the short stretch between Monterey and Big Sur. It's a short drive of a little over 30 miles, but in that stretch you will see the dramatic coastline of California, cross the famous... More

I've driven various parts of this coastal highway many times and it is impossible to tire oft he beauty, the awe-inspiring expanse, as well as one's luck for being able to be there.

No matter how many times you drive California's Highway One from Morro Bay to San Francisco, you'll be amazed at how beautiful our state is. Gorgeous views, fun little resorts and restaurants with jaw-dropping prices that you'll nonetheless want to return to again and again. Try to avoid peak summer days when RVs and other slow vehicles make it less... More

Some sections are straight and flat just yards from the sea, while at other points you are at amazing elevations navigating winding roads with views that are simply breathtaking. Heading from Bakersfield north to San Francisco we picked up PCH just north of Harmony by taking I-5 exit 278 west towards Paso Robles. Then from Castroville we headed east to... More
