Extremely beautiful lake amongst the hills. Pristine water. Finding parking is a difficult task if one reaches during afternoon. The shutterbug will get tired while capturing the beauty of this place. You will fall in love with the place if you enjoy the company of mother nature. Visited in June, 2014.

63 years ago our parents honeymooned on North Shore Tahoe near Kings Beach. We have come here nearly every year and have witnessed the growth and rampant development of a once pristine lake environment. Today, Lake Tahoe is still lovely and blue---I swam in its chilly waters, but the congestion of traffic and the proliferation of every sort of cafe,... More

Coming from the East Coast, where the mountains are older and, therefore, more worn down (shorter), and lake water is generally darker in color (due to mineral content), it was stunning to see Lake Tahoe. This gem is ringed by tall peaks all around it. The water is clear down to almost 60 feet. Definitely rent a boat and get... More

As a destination, Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, any traveler will find something to do. If on vacation - the sky is the limit. On a business trip - a quick bike ride, run or a quick run down a ski mountain is doable. It is so easy to get around, completely beautiful, easy to fly into, and both relaxing... More

Really enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe in the summer. There are so many water sports and activities to do, options of hiking or biking, eating, or just relaxing. Casinos are open late and there are food options open late as well. We rented a boat to take out to Emerald Bay and soaked in the sun. We saw bald... More

The absolutle best part of my Northern California tour had to be South Lake Tahoe! A bucket list adventure, you will enjoy the topaz blue of the lakes on a nice sunshine filled day. Hiking is superb offering a ton of different trails up and down mountainsides. Eagle falls and Eagle Lake are great trail examples plus VikingSholm castle trail.... More

We went to South Lake Tahoe from Sacramento area with family and relatives. We spent about 4 hours doing boating on this huge lake. This was my first power-boating experience in USA. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I have been to Lake Tahoe area before in 2011 and we did Jet-Ski that time.

Lake Tahoe offers all kinds of activities for families, from easy and more challenging hiking to boating, water skiing (and snow skiing in winter most years), and many other water and land activities. The mountains are beautiful and smell wonderful. Rent a house/condo where you can cook and eat as families or camp and enjoy sleeping under the stars.

Lake Tahoe is a large Californian lake which measures about 75 miles all round. The water is a deep blue apart from Emerald Bay which fully lives up to its name. There are natural sandy areas round the lake for bathing. We took a half day trip on a paddle steamer to fully appreciate its beauty. We would advise staying to... More

this was our lunch stop for the 1st day on our ati western bonanza tour and I enjoyed the location. we had time to go to the beach and if we had packed our cosy, we would have had time for a swim. however, I did not notice anyone in the water, maybe it was too cold. there were people... More
