Visited Lake Tahoe the first week of September. The weather was warm (up to 80) during the day with tons of sunshine and cool and comfortable (shorts and a light jacket) in the evenings. South Lake Tahoe is the hub of the lake. The large casinos and hotels are located here. We stayed at the Marriott Timber Lodge Resort. There... more

The views around the lake are spectacular, and Emerald Bay ranks up there as one of those must-see sights like the Golden Gate Bridge or Mt Rushmore. During Summer it's an idyllic boating, hiking, and beaching lake, and during Winter it's the breathtaking backdrop for several world-class ski mountains. Add in the casinos with big-name entertainment and vibrant nightlife, and... more

We drove from SanFrancisco to Lake Tahoe. We stopped in Reno just to say we had been there but it was a waste of time. Lake Tahoe was beautiful and a stark contrast to Reno. We were told to stay anywhere but South Tahoe and found cute cottages in Tahoe City. The town was very nice with great restaurants. We... more

I recently visited Reno, Nevada in November, 2007, for a convention. I made a day trip to Lake Tahoe for sightseeing. I didn't catch Lake Tahoe at its best. It was cold and raining but no snow yet. The ski resorts were still closed and all of the state and national parks were closed for the season too. All of... more

I was here in the summer of 1990 and was blown away by the peace, tranquillity and sheer size of the place. The log cabins made a good impact and the air was so fresh and the water so calm. This is the place to go to to get away in California- so stay away from Hait Ashbury and get... more

We've been to Lake Tahoe for the last 2 winter vacations. It's an awesome place with incredible views. We were there last month for a week. We stayed in a condo on the North end of the lake in Incline Village. The north end is the opposite of what things are like on the south end of the lake. If... more

Geez, skip South Tahoe - it is a ZOO!! SLOOOOOW traffic, miles of it, millions of people, nothing but condos and hotels, you can't even SEE the lake. But HEY! Try the NORTH side - wonderful! Up the east side of the lake, you get incredible views of it, and there's little traffic. Worth going the long way around unless... more

We stayed at the Embassy Vacation Resort 10/3-10/10. We had a 2 bedroom condo with views of the lake. The resort was in an excellent location, with walking distance to several resteraunts and 1 mile walk to the casinos. Our unit was very clean and big enough for 6 people. There were only 2 of us and it was very... more
