Lake Tahoe in my opinion is a must see for anyone visiting northern California. We drove from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe, the route was scenic and it was a fun drive (there wasn't any snow or ice on the road tho) There are spectacular views from all sides of the lake but we especially enjoyed the views from Emerald Bay... My wife and I love to come here, the views all around the lake are spectacular. If you like to gamble, the casinos are nice and shows are reasonably priced. Local restaurants are scattered around with choices to pick from. There is something to do whether hiking around the lake, fishing, skiing in winter, shopping or just driving around sight... More

... Lake Tahoe is beautiful and full of things to do. Swimming in the lake during the summer (after seeing it freezing on winter) was a nice experience.

The journey to Tahoe Lake (CA) is an experience. It has deeply penetrated in my soul; will stay as an everlasting memory. The beauty is comparable to Darjeeling, West Bengal, INDIA. My son and his wife drove alternately from Santa Clara. My wife, I and grandson were enjoying. We stopped at many places on the way to Tahoe Lake. We... More

beautiful lake and very dog friendly area. The southern area we were at had a large sand bar that you could walk a long way into the lake before it got deep. The dogs loved it too and it got them very tired so the evening was more relaxing. The lake itself is beautiful with the mountains surrounding it. You... More

Excellent paradise for a Romantic Getaway. The environment and climate is so rich with love. There are lot of cheap accommodations (motels / Inns) that are not advertised on media but you will find cheaper rates on the ground than internet. Thats what i will do next time. This is truly a couples Paradise. The Beauty of virgin nature and... More

We have visited Lake Tahoe numerous times and enjoy each time we go. Although recently we have not had much snow due to the drought, there is usually a winter and summer season at Lake Tahoe and both are wonderful. When we go to Lake Tahoe we generally stay in South Lake Tahoe at the Marriott as we usually get... More

You haven't seen the best of California until you drive around Lake Tahoe from one side to the other. The road is narrow in some spots but the views of the lake are unsurpassed.

I had read a lot about Lake Tahoe and was prepared for another typical lakeshore experience after having lived in many places with lakes from India to Minnesota. But the astounding view of Lake Tahoe as I burst upon it driving in from Sacramento on US 50 was breathtaking. Nestled in a bowl surrounded by towering snowcapped mountains of the... More
