The coast with shards of rocks poking from the sea, rolling hills swathed in wild flowers and wide greysand beaches was a happy find. We were staying near by in Cazardero and decided to check out the beach only 4 miles away. What a change from the magnificent redwoods! We saw many birds: Pelicans, geese, seagulls. Also, some seals, which... More

Just north of Bodega Bay on Highway 1, are beach after natural beach - may fifteen or twenty in all before you reach the Russian River. The most dramatic view of all is from the cliffs above Goat Rock Beach, and then you can drive down to the beach level to explore the sea life that lives amongst the tide... More

I have been to Bodega Bay many times, but for some reason never made it here. I am so glad that I have now. Goat Rock Beach is absolutely breathtaking. I stood there just watching the waves crash into the shoreline. This not a place for swimming or wading, the tides are too powerful.

The minute I saw the coast, I was raring to get out of the car! And the best was, a friend of ours brought blankets, wines, cheese, cherries and we had a nice picnic right by Goat Rock! I could just feel God celebrating right there with us. It was chilly out there but it was just way too awesome... More

Went to this beach early May... is was SOOOOO windy, could barely stand up straight. Was still entertaining, but wasn't the "beach experience" I was looking for. Definitely bring warm clothes and check the weather beforehand!

Staying in Monte Rio for a few days, we were advised to go to this beach by the hotel staff. There are spectacular views on the road down to the beach with various car parks to stop in to take pictures. We went down early, 9.30, and there were only 2 other cars in the lowest car park and we... More

Go to the town of Jenner and rent a kayak - you can paddle out to the beach and see the seals close up. The drive up the coast also gives you some nice views of Goat Beach from the road.

For years, we have driven the Ca. coast, and one of my favorite places is Goat Rock Beach at the mouth of Russian River. When our children were small, they played under the trestles of the old railroad track for the lumber trains. Not much remains now: twisted, rusted rails, one old spike, lots of rust bits. Families are playing... More

Different friends came to town so I went three times in 8 days and it was completely different weather each time, and no day was bad. The vistas are spectacular driving along the ridge before you descend the hill to the beach, and there are so many options to explore. Be sure to go all the way to the north... More

We've spent the afternoon at Blind Beach, the dog-friendly beach at Goat Rock. Amazing scenery, we saw sea lions and it was almost empty. A bit windy but very sunny.
