The best way to see Marlborough Sound is on the water - so find a boat cruise and enjoy your afternoon! The town of Picton is pictureques and located on the water, so worth exploring the area. We found a culinary cruise on the Seafood Odyssea Cruise boat and I highly recommend this as a way to enjoy the Sound.... More

These sound's are best explored from the sea and there are a range of cruises available on the Picton foreshore . If you have a full day the mail boat cruise is a real gem and well worth the money ,you get into some of the more remote areas of the sounds .We loved our day out on the boat... More

This was the crime de la creme. Cruising along the sound, out to sea and the return trip was magnificent. The on board commentary was very informative and ensured that everybody was aware of what was happening and the things to look for. The boat slowed down to ensure that everyone had time to take photos. The weather was bright... More

It was the most stunning walk I have ever done - all 71kms. The scenery is beautiful. It was also more difficult than I expected but we are 50 + and thought that our daily 4km dog walk and the occasional 10km walk would be enough. Wrong! There were a number of steep drawn out hills which meant up and... More

There are beautiful trails, tracks and roads throughout the region! My son and his girlfriend had just completed the Queen Charlotte Track so our luxurious stay at Raetihi Lodge was most welcome. There are lots of interesting places to stay in the region.

We have enjoyed 3 trips around the Sounds and have enjoyed every minute from the fast water taxi to the Interislander ferry trip. The whole area is so scenic with coves and bays at every turn and stunning forests and mountains forming the perfect backdrop. Whether you are getting up close and personal hiking on the Queen Charlotte Track or... More

We kayaked for three day, each day at a different location and only saw a fraction of this area. Some days were windy, the last was as calm as a mill pond and you could see the sting rays gliding through the water and star fish attached to the rocks. We saw a partially sunken ship, lots of "shags" nesting... More
