Try the Port Underwood road

Our first view of the sounds was whilst driving, but nothing beats the experience of leaving the sounds via the ferry on a sunny day. Just awesome.

We saw islands where Kiwis are protected. Saw a salmon fish farm. Saw lots of isolated million dollar homes.

Relaxed lifestyle, beautiful location. Lots to see & do. Boating, fishing, swimming. We went to Duncan bay, bit of a windy road but was well worth the drive, views

On our arrival we encountered a storm in rain and fog--saw nothing of it. The crossing took seven hours instead of scheduled three. An uncomfortable adventure. The return voyage was smooth and sunny and compensated fully for what we missed on coming--and now we have a story to tell!

Absolutely beautiful scenery so much to see and never enough time to see it all, take your time to see as much as you can.

Arriving in the Marlborough Sounds via the ferry, we were completely mesmerized by the scenery and the peaceful splendor that welcomed us. Quite incredible and surreal.

Absolutely beautiful, helped by great weather. I'm sure it would be just as stunning any time of the year. Ample opportunity to get out on the water if you'd like to

The crew of Ryan, Megan & Tony could not have been any better to ensure the passengers had a very informative & enjoyable cruise. The commentary provided by Ryan & his in depth knowledge of the area & the fishing was top rated. The staff of Megan & Tony were very attentive & helpful, great customer service. An expansive waterway of drowned river valleys stretching for several hundred kilometres with towering hills which are covered in some places by untouched natural vegetation and in others by fast growing pine plantations. The water is so clean that mussel farms thrive and you can see clearly in the shallows. A perfectly safe place for solitude or for couples and... More
