Awesome scenery, the trip into the Marlborough sounds on the ferry is beautiful, there are plenty of fishing spots from the shore.

Great fun to travel the sound and be able to stop and explore, we stepped at bird island and saw penguins and Capt. Cook's cove. Fun afternoon!

The Marlborough & Queen Charlotte Sounds are stunning. The best way to experience them is to take a cruise or catch the ferry from Wellington to Picton as the scenery is gorgeous & the boast ride very pleasurable. We opted for the Sunday afternoon cruise to Ships Cove & Motuara Island through the Queens Charlotte & Marlborough Sounds from Picton.... More

Scenic Took a watertaxi to Lochmara Lodge and enjoyed a hike there, after that I took a look around the park and learned about their breeding program for endangered species, real interesting. To top it off I took a Kayak into the sounds and spotted some dophins!

Took the Mail Boat trip delivering mail to people who either live permanently or holiday in the sound. The skipper and tour guide was excellent and had a great expansive knowledge of the area and its history. Landed at Ships Cove where James Cook spent some time and Resolution Bay. Great trip.

Well worth a visit Picton is small but really pretty can get very busy in summer time. We were there in spring time and everywhere was very quiet including the restaurants.

Still weather, even while it was blowing in the strait. Sunshine. Magic place. Off season, on a good day, there's no place like Picton to calm the soul.

Immediately fell in love with this place. The area is so beautiful that words cant describe. Stop off for a while at Picton and enjoy the views. Make sure you take the picturesque Queen Charlotte Drive to Havelock. Totally worth doing

I was unfortunate enough to go in the winter and it rained the whole time I was there. Nevertheless, the scenery is stunning!
