We have cruised around the Sounds for many years. We have sailed our own boat, chartered boats, driven the coasts and traveled on commercial boats. Each method brings to life different versions of the Sounds and each is memorable. The Dolphin Watch trip pleases all ages and is guaranteed to entrance. There are so many safe and peaceful anchorages, mostly... More

The Marlborough Sounds, are completely spectacular. Visit the anchorages used by Capt James Cook, enjoy the fantastic fishing, soak up the history, visit magnificent isolated lodges with great cuisine, and above all relax! My recommendation is that you hire your own vessel, try Charterlink, and spend a few days simply exploring this magnificent waterway!

The sounds are really beautiful and the water clarity and colour are very special. If doing this track by mountain bike insist on a gel seat or take your own as the hire place we chose did not really show much interest in providing these. We chose to cycle from Anakiwa to Picton which was a picturesque ride and really... More

We have been to this area many times and stayed in many of the locations, the one conclusion we have made is there is only one great spot to stay and that is Picton, Blenhiem has nothing to really offer, it is just a small provincial centre, a few cafes on a typical small town. Havelock is just too far... More

Spent seven months in Blenheim several years back. Every Sunday we would head to a different winery, learn about and taste different wines, and enjoy lunch on the outdoor patio at the vineyard restaurant. What a great place to relax and enjoy being outside! This would be the perfect place to take a break from a hectic travel schedule and... More

Travelled from South to North Island staying overnight sometimes more in motels. If you have time it's well worth stopping a few days with Blenheim as your base which is only a short drive away from the ferry at Picton. It's also worth staying a Picton because this is a lovely place with fantastic views. Would recommend staying at Harbour... More

Took a day trip to Furneaux Lodge via the sound. Stopped at several locations before we arrived. Good narrative as we went along and lots of information about the sound. Stopped to view a pod of dolphins. Timings were spot on and we had a great day out. There a various combination of walks and visits any would be fine... More

We did the mail run cruise on the Queen Charlotte Sound. Great scenery but the highlight was the commentary from Jason. Excellent....knows his history and obviously loves his heritage. Thoroughly recommend.
