There is not enough space to extol the virtues of this wonderful region. The waterways are serene yet majestic, peaceful yet vibrant, colourful yet consistent. Located at the north-eastern tip of the southern island, this is a magnificent area of sounds, islands, and peninsulas. Most visitors would experience the sounds during their ferry ride from or to the north island, but if you get the chance, do try to explore the sounds numerous roads and paths, as they provide stunning landscapes of land and see.... Amazing scenery. Great opportunities to take beautiful photos. If you are lucky like we were you should see penquins and seals.

We took a catamaran boat ride on the Marlborough Sound. It was so beautiful on the water. We also got to see how they grow Green Lipped Mussels there in the water and got to eat some.

Around every corner of... More

We visited not by boat but by 4WD. By special permission we were able to drive out alongside Tory Channel with its amazing sea views. A stunning trip

Most tourists flock to the southern part of New Zealand's South Island. But if they do not visit the northern part, the Marlborough Sounds, and the whole region, with its charming wineries (the best white wines in the world such as sauvignon blac, pinot gris, chardonnay), cities like Nelson, and its many stunningly beautiful bays, you are missing out.
