We had a fantastic time in the Marlborough Sounds, especially after getting rained on and fogged out of Milford Sound. Scenery is gorgeous and the water traffic was low. We were told that it was high season in the sounds, but boat traffic was so low! We probably saw less than 20 boats on the water for the 6 hours... More

Queen Charlotte Sound is lovely but many people stop at that - Pelorus is larger, less developed and absolutely gorgeous.

A real Kiwi holiday destination. Most people go for the fishing, swimming, diving or hunting. The sounds are well sheltered so there is always a place to get the boat into a calm bay. Got to love this place because you can have a lazy weekend taking in the sights, sounds, food & drink of the area. Good walking tracks... More

From the harbour to the high street this is beautiful town. The view looking out is one of shear magnificence rising majestic islands tower from the turquoise sea with the north island just visible in the distance. It has a feeling of seaside town and amazingly clean. For added beauty travel East along the coastal road and stop at every... More

The Marlborough Sounds is always a great place to spend a long, lazy weekend taking in the sights, sounds, food & drink of the area. The locals are friendly and can give lots of advice on what to see and do...and if you are still stumped there is always the I-site to go to who will give you even more... More

The views from the hikes and from our kayaking trip were gorgeous, fantastic. Walking is easy, it is well prepared. Here and there there are picknick tables although there could be more places. The water is clear so you will see stingrays, etc.

We had a rented car with us and we drove around the Sounds. At certain vantage point the view was just amazing with the sun reflecting it's light over it. Do not forget to bring your camera along for the sunset and sunrise. Spectacular!
