You cannot leave the south island without visiting the Marlborough sounds. Fabulous walks and coves to swim in. Recommend visiting Double cove for a swim - the Jellyfish don't sting!

We took on the challenge of the Queen Charlotte track over 4 days. Highly recommend doing this walk with the deluxe accommodation option - you wont be disappointed. You don't need a guide but suggest you book through a local operator who can give the best advice and help plan the trip. We used Natural Encounters who were excellent. They... More

Excellent. Unique natural environment. Queen Charlotte Track makes for a fantastic ride. Certainly going back in the near future.

The Marlborough Sounds is one of a kind, if you can sail in it you can sail anywhere! Containing the Queen Charlotte Sound with Picton as its hub; Pelorus, Kenepuru, Mahu Sounds all accessed via Havelock, it is vast and varied. The Queen Charlotte Sound is more known for its easy access via road and boat. Very popular over summer... More

So scenic! We just got the ferry from Wellington to Picton. Once you get to the south island the scenery around Marlborough sound is lovely! There are tours that operate but if you're getting the ferry you go through it anyways so enjoy it!

After arriving in NZ we booked a day trip to this absolutely beautiful spot - Marlborough Sounds. It is a must do spot to visit as it is just stunning. We were fortunate to see dolphins swimming along side the boat and seeing seals playing and resting on the land. If visiting NZ this is a must see.

Took boat out on a golden sunny day. Lots of yachts and runabouts out too but room for everyone. Lovely beaches to drop into and have a picnic.

The Sounds are spectacular - as the Marlborough Marinas say 'the Marlborough Sounds is 20% of the NZ Coastline and 2% of the population!' A vast labyrinth of bays, inlets, coves, it is a boatie paradise, fishermans dream and there are many holiday homes and accommodation options too - get away from the city, this is a perfect escape. Birds,... More

This mail boat trip lasted 5 hours, and we were even taken to Cpt. Cooks landing site. The guide was very knowledgeable, and fun.

The best way to see Marlborough Sound is on the water - so find a boat cruise and enjoy your afternoon! The town of Picton is pictureques and located on the water, so worth exploring the area. We found a culinary cruise on the Seafood Odyssea Cruise boat and I highly recommend this as a way to enjoy the Sound.... More
