This was a wonderful afternoon out with the staff of Dolphin Watch Ecotours. We did the trip to Motuara Island Bird Sanctuary, which includes so much more besides. An amazing view is to be had from the top of the island, after a 'chat' with a very tame NZ robin on the way! Later we saw Hector's Dolphins all around... More

Absolutely amazing, once in a lifetime experience! Great guides, very knowledgeable and clearly compassionate about conservation and dolphins in particular. Really fun and caring group of people.

We had a great time watching and learning about the NZ wildlife in Queen Charlotte sound. The guides were passionate and knowledgeable and worked hard at providing that unique kiwi service of friendliness and professionalism. A lot time is taken up in getting to locations, but the guide are constantly scanning the horizon trying to seek out more wildlife for... More

My rating is mainly because I felt this was very poor value for money. I know that no one can guarantee the wildlife (we hardly saw any) or the weather (we got hailed on) so that's no one's fault. Though we might have seen more birds on Motuara Island if we hadn't galloped to the top. Any wildlife worth it's... More

I tried to do this swim with the dolphins in February but there was only the Hector's Doilphins to view and what a brilliant display they put on. Nevertheles they allow you try again (or some money back) and I did. This time when I went the Bottlenose Dolphins were there (they're big close up) and I have to say... More

A big kudos to the team at Dolphin Watch Ecotours! Friendly and passionate staff make this tour a pleasant ride on the sea. On our tour, we hadn't seen dolphins for almost three hours, until finally we found a pod of very small and cute Hector dolphins. We stayed and watched them for 10 minutes, until they vanished. Then we... More

The staff was excellent and very informative. We got a tour of the complete Sound and saw many birds including pinguins bafore actually seeing Hector dolphins and then the amazing swim with the bottle nose dolphins. We did 2 swims! One of the staff took tons of photos and posted them on their FB page! No need to pay extra!... More

We booked for a bird watchers trip down Marlborough Sound to a bird reserve. We paid 17$ extra but went with a boatload of others who paid the lower price for the same experience . We felt it was a con. Not many species of birds to see although the guide did her best with a crowded boat. We did... More

Hello Angela, Thankyou for you valuable feedback and we do appreciate you taking the time to share this with us. The Birdwatchers trip is always a tricky one as it can be confusing and is often incorrectly described by agents selling tickets on our behalf. Our standard afternoon trip is the Motuara Island & Dolphin Cruise, the Birdwatchers is simply... More

Having been fortunate enough to take both the morning dolphin swim tour and the afternoon nature tour, I can honestly say that these tours are among my favourites, not only in New Zealand, but the world over. The staff is fun, knowledgeable and always friendly and the group size pleasantly small. What a way of experiencing the stunning nature of... More
