Great mix of history, sailing, humor and natural beauty of New Zealand

Ray, the owner and captain, was knowledgeable, fun and educational, and his sailboat was impeccable--and beautiful. Perfect way to see this incredible country.

Highly recommended. An amazing experience that wasn't your run of the mill. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys new experiences and not just sitting on a big cruise. Ray was very hospitable and friendly - he taught us about sailing and let us have a go at steering; with the whole experience tailored to our comfort zones and depending on... More

Nice man, nice boat. Would have been a very pleasant trip even if we hadn't seen the Hector's dolphins and the penguins. Sailing added something to this cruise, when the engine was turned off, then the interest increased. The dolphins were hard to count as they raced alongside the boat, but at most there were seven at once. No guarantees... More

We were a party of four who sailed with two other couples and of course Captain Ray on November 9th. The weather was great and as many as a dozen dolphins played around the boat. The boat handles well and everybody got a turn at the helm. In addition to the dolphins and great scenery, we saw lots of birds... More

We were signed up for Ray's sailing cruise through another tour. We were so glad we chose to do it! This far exceeded our expectations. Captain Ray was very welcoming, knowledgeable and entertaining. He gave us all a chance at the helm and taught us a bit about sailing. What great fun it was. We had a beautiful day for... More

We had a fantastic afternoon with Ray and his wonderful sailing boat! It's a very relaxed and personal experience since the group that can go on the boat is always fairly small (we were 5 guest in total). We saw quite a few animals - sadly no dolphins. But it was still such a splendid time. Do it, if you... More

Best $75 I've ever spent. Captain great full of information. Great fun and involvement. Smoothest ride I've had in a sailing vessel. Wildlife was fantastic.

Ray was super friendly, accommodating, knew a lot about the wild life, history, waters, etc. He clearly knew where to go for finding Dolphins, penguins, etc. He handled the boat impressively well and also taught us about sailing. He set a great time for the adventure that was easy going, relaxed and fun but he certainly had control of the... More

I can't recommend a sailing cruise with Ray highly enough; Ray was kind enough to sail with just my husband and myself, which was extra special as it was our belated honeymoon. Ray was incredibly considerate, knowledgeable and great fun. I suffer from sea sickness and he gave me a cure that did the trick! He told us information about... More

We spent a stunning sunny afternoon exploring Akaroa Harbour aboard Manutara, a charming classic wooden yacht. We were welcomed warmly by Captain Ray who gave us a safety briefing before leaving the harbour. There were 6 passengers on the trip and felt we were getting a special small group experience. Lots of time for soaking in the beauty of nature... More
