This was definitely one of the highlights of a month-long visit to the South Island of NZ. Ray was a superb skipper, and put everyone at ease (I had never been sailing before) and encouraged everyone to have a turn at the helm. We saw lots of wildlife - hector's dolphins, an albatross and blue penguins. A great trip (helped... More

It was amazing! Sailing, enjoying the silence, see a lot of animals. Ray is the best captain ever. Hope to see him again on the Walensee in summer!

We met Ray on the dock after getting off our cruise ship, and immediately liked him. We sailed with him for over three hours with only 9 passengers on board. We saw at least 8 Hectors dolphins that followed and swam around the boat. Each of us had a turn actually driving the boat, not just holding the wheel. Ray... More

We were lucky enough to enjoy a magical morning out in the harbour with Ray on his yacht. As we were the only 2 passengers, my husband and I were able to steer the yacht for the whole time except for leaving and arriving at the dock. It was a thrilling experience when the wind picked up. Didn't see much... More

We saw Ray and his beautiful yacht by chance as we walked up the Akaroa wharf. It was only a few moments later that we were booked on the morning sailing. There were four other passengers so six of us in all. It was a truly memorable morning. Good gusts of wind up the harbour to get the yacht going... More

My husband and I have spent a month seeing as much of New Zealand as we can and this morning we sailed with Ray on his beautiful yacht and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Neither of us have sailed before and we were the only people on board with Ray which somehow enhanced the whole... More

Fantastic, fabulous, wonderful!!! We spent a liberating relaxing time sailing with Ray. He answered our questions, was friendly, humorous, entertaining. We all had the opportunity to sail the boat! There were 4 of us, my husband, our 23 yr old son, my 73 yr old Mother and myself. What an unforgettable experience! We had a look at the cabin below... More

My friend (from the U.K.) and I spent a wonderful morning sailing with Ray who has such a wonderful personality. We are both 79 year olds and he made us feel so welcome. We learnt all the local history of Akaroa, which Ray explained so well - also learning about the Hector's dolphins, the little blue penguins and the shags... More

As an owner of a NZ inbound travel business, bringing mainly Europeans to New Zealand, I am very picky when deciding what activities to offer to my clients. Akaroa is often one of the highlights of my itineraries so I have to be 100% sure the quality meets the expectation. With Ray and his Sailing Cruises I can truly rest... More
