What a trip! There are various options for sailing trips in Akaroa and this one was recommended by a lady in a restaurant and we were so pleased we chose it. We sailed right out into the Southern Ocean and it was magical. We saw Hector's dolphins, fur seals, shags, pengins and terns; we sailed right into Cathedral Cave; we... More

What a fantastic cruise we enjoyed with Roy and his crew! The Hector's dolphins made it a truly memorable trip, there were masses of them playing around the boat, attracted by the soulful music and the beautiful old sailing boat! We saw seals, blue penguins and many varieties of birds too, interspersed with a knowledgeable commentary by the Skipper informing... More

We have never been on board a trip where so much music is played - and to the better! This three hour expedition with its friendly, skilled crew ( the sails are not just for show, although mostly motorised) takes a break from the traditional tourism mold - thank goodness. The commentary is lively, personal, dare I say, refreshingly unpolished,... More

We took this trip on 11/02/2015 and enjoyed it immensely. We saw Hectors Dolphins - heaps of them, blue penguins, fur seals and much more. It was a really relaxing tour and Akaroa is absolutely beautiful. We would recommend this tour to everyone. It was great. John & Gail Laney

Take a trip out to see the endangered Hectors Dolphins, Blue Penguins, Fur Seals, Albatross, Giant Petrols and much more! Sail on the beautiful "Fox 11", with Captain Roy, Haru, Rachel and Adam. They are a very knowledgable and safe crew, always happy to answer your questions, make you as comfortable as possible, make you tea, coffee or hot choccy... More

Firstly it needs to be recognised that we were lucky enough to be the only people on the boat on the day we went so felt like royalty. But I reckon they probably make all their customers feel that way anyway. It was a great afternoon - we saw loads of dolphins and several blue penguins too. A special mention... More

Decided to go on the Fox II morning cruise the day after I'd finished the Banks Track. It was a wonderful sunny, clear day, and the experience was first-rate. The skipper was knowledgeable and interesting; the crew helpful. Loved seeing the Hector's Dolphins, albatross, blue penguins and NZ fur seals. Enjoyed the coffee, the music, the sun, sailing. Thoroughly recommend... More

The Fox II is a beautiful old sailing ketch and its crew were friendly and knowledgeable. Captain Roy knows this area intimately and was able to create three hours of pure magic for us. Using sailing themed music he kept around 3 pods of dolphins glued to our bows for at least 20 minutes. Again using music he brought cathedral... More

Our family, (Mum & Dad, and two teenage boys) went out with Fox II in early January, and had a wonderful experience, Hectors Dolphins playing in the bow waves, seals, penguins, a variety of other marine birds; rugged scenery; historical commentary; and a run under sail on an impeccably maintained boat. Captain Roy and the crew were attentive and great... More

I thoroughly enjoyed this sailing cruise to see the smallest dolphins in the world! Ray, the captain, and his crew were terrific! Ray really knows the history of Akaroa Bay, so it was a learning experience as well. Ray played some cool music, and the Hector dolphins surrounded our boat! It was amazing! We even saw the tiny blue penguin... More
