Recently my wife and I were on a cruise that happened to stop in Akaroa. We had not previously been there and once on shore we decided to wing it. We found this tour that took us to a working sheep farm. It turned out to be the high light of our 12 night cruise. We left the town for... More

An amazing tour and overall experience with Akaroa Farm Tours. We learnt so much about the history of the area, Murray's family, and the running of a sheep farm. The herding by 'Blue' the dog and the shearing of the sheep made it an unforgettable experience! We hope you keep on doing these Murray, as we will refer everyone we... More

we chose this tour as an option from our holland america cruise shore tour. everything was wonderful.... we loved the dogs (all of them) and the fascinating talk the owner gave on family history. the farm is set in the most beautiful green and hilly countryside. It was great to see the sheep shorn and to have a photo opportunity... More

Between the beautiful views and the moving history this tour will stay with me for a lifetime. My face hurt a little from all the smiles! The dogs are amazing (even sidekick Ruff) and there were puppies!!! I was absorbed into the history of the farm and family by the amazing storyteller (and owner) Murray; note you might need a... I agree with what lots of other reviewers said about this wonderful tour: the ride to the farm, the family story, the sheep dogs, the shearing, the tea & scones, etc. But one extra thing I want to add: We had some difficulty getting this tour scheduled (on our own, not with a cruise), due to schedule mis-matches and some... We visited the sheep farm, Paua Bay in Akaroa and it was one of the highlights of our cruise to New Zealand and Australia. Murray, his wife and other family members provided a wonderful experience. We all sat mesmerized as Murray told his family story. He then did she actual sheering and his daughter-in-law gave us an incredible "show" with... More

This was the only ship-sponsored tour we took on the cruise, and I was so glad we did. (My sisters took this same cruise 2 years ago, and they said this was the only excursion they really enjoyed.) Paua Bay Farm is a working sheep farm that is in the hands of the 6th generation of owners. The brief drive... More

While in Akaroa, we joined a tour of the Paua Bay Farms. We found the tour very interesting and well worthwhile. The family that owns the farm and bed and breakfast willingly opened their home and their lives to us and shared their feelings about what they did. What a great example of perseverance they were to us. We would... More

This tour, known as the Paua Bay Farm tour (to those booking through Princess Cruises),still has my husband and I talking about it many days later, and Highly recommending to all. We have met many vacationer cruisers on their way to New Zealand and have told them this is a not to be missed tour. The views from this property... More

My husband and I spent a wonderful few hours visiting this working sheep farm. As other reviewers have noted, the chief highlight is the owner of the farm who tells his family story of multiple generations who have been sheep farmers in Akaroa. We all had the opportunity to have our picture taken hugging a sheep, who was then summarily... More
