Description: Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia’s premier tourist attractions...
Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia’s premier tourist attractions and the only World Heritage listed building in the State. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and was used as a place of incarceration for almost 140 years. With solitary cells and gallows Fremantle Prison is a monument to a system of punishment that is uncomfortably recent. Fremantle Prison now holds the key to history, mystery and fun. Step inside and do time with experienced guides on a fascinating Prison Day Tour. Explore the labyrinth of tunnels 20m beneath the Prison by foot and by boat on a Tunnels Tour adventure. Feeling brave? Delve into the darker side of the Prison’s history on an eerie Torchlight Tour.

My wife and I went to the Fremantle Prison with our little son, and had some great hours with Steve(?) and Matthew. Many interesting story's from the both of them, and much to see. We took the package to 26 dollars each, and it lastet together for around 2 hours and 30 minutes, so remember that when you are paying... More

Have been back over a half a dozen times and done most tours and taken overseas relatives each time and it has been extremely interesting. The guides are so informative and really try and include any children in the group. The Prison stories are varied and captivating for all ages. Would definitely recommend.

Very informative tour. As it was a real prison, take into consideration that some things could be upsetting (I.e. The visit covers the room where people were executed - not a must to go in, of course) - worth assessing in advance if going with children.

We wondered whether taking a 7 year old on a prison tour would be a bit too 'full on'. Well, I guess that depends on the 7 year old, but if you have a son like mine, then who wouldn't want to see the inside of a prison, look at slop buckets, see a gallows and everything else that kids... More

Came here in October last year and did the typical tourist stuff, heard that this place was worth a visit and we weren't disappointed. We only had time to do the one tour as well as have a look around at some of the other exhibits. We did the Doing Time Tour. This was very interesting and gave a good... More

We had a great evening tour by torchlight. we were given torches which we were allowed to keep at the end of the tour, the guide was great but her squeaky voice a bit irritating it had a few surprises along the way which I won't reveal and spoil the fun!! All in all a great couple of hours

My husband and I loved this tour! It was fun thanks to Tristan, our tour guide and a bit physically challenging for a couple in their late 50's. Very informative about Fremantle in the early days, coming from Melbourne we didn't know a lot about. Would recommend it!

My family and I took the Doing Time tour. Though we occasionally had trouble understanding our guide, whose voice tended to fade away at the end of sentences, it was a very informative tour. The kids begged to return for a second tour (Great Escapes). Who can say no to kids begging to go on guided tours of historic buildings?... More

We were lucky enough to have 'Ben' as our guide for the daytime tour. He made the tour so incredibly interesting and his knowledge of the prison's history was excellent.

Hi Ansettgirl, It is so wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Prison. Ben will be extremely happy to know you enjoyed his tour so much and we will be sure to pass your comments onto him.
