With solitary cells and gallows Fremantle Prison is a monument to a system of punishment that is uncomfortably recent. Fremantle Prison now holds the key to history, mystery and fun. Step inside and do time with experienced guides on a fascinating Prison Day Tour. Explore the labyrinth of tunnels 20m beneath the Prison by foot and by boat on a Tunnels Tour adventure. Its not for the faint hearted, claustrophobic, vertigo sufferers or those scared of the dark. It is for the more adventures types who don't mind getting harnessed up and climbing down a set of vertical ladders to the depths of the prison tunnels. Our tour guide gave an interesting and humerus account of the history of the tunnels, and the... More

Fremantle Prison is Western Australlia’s only World Heritage Listed Building. With convenient meter parking, it is also adjacent to Fremantle Markets for Fri/Sat/Sun visitors. The info does say “step back in time to experience the good and bad of our history”. Sorry, but it was all bad in Fremantle Prison!! We were happy doing the “Doing Time” guided tour and... More

A trully wonderful tour looking at the birth of a nation from a colony. Our guide John was full of knowledge and humour as we walked the paths of many before us. $20 for an adult and $11 for a child is definitely worth it and I'd pay it just to talk with David Campbell(83), ex-Super and now guide who... But GO you should to Fremantle Gaol. Right in the middle of the city this imposing ediface is a must see. Take a tour and hear the scary interesting history from the excellent tour guides. Shocking but also amusing tales. Dont be left behind, you never know who or what may be lurking.

This was completely fascinating and we had a wonderful (and completely hilarious) guide (Matthew??) who took us on a detailed tour for 1 1/2 hours. History just amazing and I thought it really worth the entry fee, plus more. Particularly considering this was a prison in use until living memory. There are 3 different tours available (I took the "Doing... More

We visited Freemantle Goal and went on the " Doing Time "tour. It was very informative and amazing to see how the gaol operated and the conditions the prisoners lived under until it closed. It must have been cold there!! The tour was very well presented by John, he added humour and "theatre" to keep the large group interested. The Chapel... More

Whilst visiting family in WA we decided to do the tour of Fremantle prison. I must say I didn't expect much from the tour, but was I sure wrong! We ended up buying the pass that allowed us to do the "doing time" and "the great escape" tour within a period of 2 weeks (well worth the value of $26).... More

We really enjoyed our tour. We just took the basic one which went for an hour and a quarter. Gave us a very good idea of what it would be like to be a prisoner during that time, and we had a good look around in the cells and other areas of the jail. Finished off with the room where... More

We did the 'Doing Time' and 'Great Escape' tours and both were great. I would recommend doing both if you have time as they are different and you don't really double up in the tour content. To do both which takes about 4 hrs, is $28. Our guide was Ben and he was awesome, funny and very informative. Highly recommend... More
