With solitary cells and gallows Fremantle Prison is a monument to a system of punishment that is uncomfortably recent. Fremantle Prison now holds the key to history, mystery and fun. Step inside and do time with experienced guides on a fascinating Prison Day Tour. Explore the labyrinth of tunnels 20m beneath the Prison by foot and by boat on a Tunnels Tour adventure. we arrived at 9am and signed up for the tunnel tour - so lucky as was just us and our fantastic guide Chris, so was like a private tour, was abit daunting getting into our gummies, white coveralls our harnesses & life jacket, then we clipped up and down we went into the tunnels, that was the worst bit for... We love prisons, and it's always fun to take a guided tour, in fact, the only way to see Fremantle Prison is by guided tour. We did the combo ticket for two of the 4 tours available.... The Great Escape and Doing Time, led by Colin and James retrospectively. it cost $26 each, not bad for 2 and a half... More

Brilliant experience, extremely interesting, would recommend doing the dungeon tour I aswell. Tour guide ( can't remember his name) was great, had amazing stories and had actually been a prison officer there when the prison was still operating. Would highly reccomend a visit here, amazing tourist attraction! Have not ticked buggy parking, luggage storage or wheelchair access as I cannot... More

On our first visit to the jail we did the great escapes and doing time tours, lead by our guide, James. A prison rich in history, James provided us with thorough commentry and answered any questions we had with humour and honesty. We enjoyed both tours so much (though possibly preferred the great escapes tour a little more) that we... More

The sense of foreboding and fear is really highlighted if you attend the night time tour of this prison. The cells are claustrophobic, and the harsh life of the prisoners is really forced home when you tour at night. Those with a strong imagination and sensitivity will either appreciate all this, or be just a little scared! Above all, a... More

Did this tour with my 18 year old nephew. This is not for the faint hearted!! We did the tour that goes underground which means you have to climb down vertical drops! Safety is key, you get a talk first and then get kitted up in harnesses when you then start your descent down vertical ladders onto three platforms until... More

Being local for 15 years, I wasn't sure what to expect actually for my first time, however was pleasantly surprised and intrigued. Touring cells, the morgue, solitary confinement and the gallows, I couldn't help but feel the pain, sadness, anger and mystery of the people who lived and died in a place that holds many stories. Taking my 9 year... More

We drove from Perth in the morning and as soon as we got to the prison we only had to wait 20 minutes till the tour. The coffee shop is a good place to wait. The tour was very informative and the guide was the one who made it. Brendan was our tour guide. There were a number of children... More

We did the Doing Time tour with Brendan, and it was great! Not a cheerful place to visit, but a fascinating piece of Australian history really well presented. The prison was built by British convicts in the 1850s and used until 1991, so there is a lot to see and hear. This tour takes you from the admissions area to... More

Went to the prison for the first time and as there are a few different tours, we chose the doing time tour. You can go to the web site and choose yours and times are listed to help with your plans. There is parking at the top (for a fee). The guide was really informative and we really got a... More
