This is well worth a visit and only 3E. As well as seeing the town from an unusual perspective, the guide will tell you about the historic buildings and has plenty of anecdotes. Also worth visiting the pousada across the square to see the Roman excavations (free).

Thought it would be interesting to see Tavira from on high, but with the Camera Obscura it was very dizzying as it was not very clear and a lot of the time you were looking at the view upside down unless you kept walking round it and pushing your way in through people to lean over to view it. There... More

A must see this attraction! We can see the entire city in just 15 minutes! Very nice place and only costs 3.50 euros. Worth a visit.

This attraction helped to make our day trip, and with it's great views all across the town and surrounding area, it enticed us to return to explore more, returning this time to for a 2 week holiday. Housed in an old water tower, this is a great use of a disused facility. Stairs and lift available.

Telescopes, mirrors, lenses old water tower, all sound a bit strange but all provide beautiful views of Tavira and surrounding areas. Enter the old water tower, turn off the lights and see the sights and people of Tavira walking around in their daily routines. Well worth a visit for only €3.50

This is a remarkable piece of technology but the presentation was very poor. The guide went through her talk like a robot and didn't invite questions. She seemed positively offended when I asked her the date of a revolution she mentioned. It was the 1974 revolution she reluctantly informed me. I guess she thinks that none of the visitors know... It was very well explained but only lasted under 15 minutes. The girl spoke excellent English and it was good to see Tavira in real time.

This is the best way to get your helicopter view of Tavira. And much cheaper!! The place itself is fun and it has the best view in Tavira. It shows in real time, the life of the town, by being able to view people on the streets, the river with ferries leaving or the fishing boats arriving with their catch... More
