Telescopes, mirrors, lenses old water tower, all sound a bit strange but all provide beautiful views of Tavira and surrounding areas. Enter the old water tower, turn off the lights and see the sights and people of Tavira walking around in their daily routines. Well worth a visit for only €3.50

This is a remarkable piece of technology but the presentation was very poor. The guide went through her talk like a robot and didn't invite questions. She seemed positively offended when I asked her the date of a revolution she mentioned. It was the 1974 revolution she reluctantly informed me. I guess she thinks that none of the visitors know... It was very well explained but only lasted under 15 minutes. The girl spoke excellent English and it was good to see Tavira in real time.

This is the best way to get your helicopter view of Tavira. And much cheaper!! The place itself is fun and it has the best view in Tavira. It shows in real time, the life of the town, by being able to view people on the streets, the river with ferries leaving or the fishing boats arriving with their catch... More

Great views of Tavira but above all the mystery of what mirrors can achieve is fascinating. Well situated, it is near other points of interest so well worth a visit.

Right at the top of the hill by the Castle and Pousada is the Camera Obscura we stumbled upon while visiting Tavira recently. Utilizing large telescope lenses they project enlarged pictures and areas of Tavira right onto a screen in front of you which is an excellent and innovative way for you to review sites in Tavira you may wish... This is a really good way to get some knowledge of Tavira and it's history. Low admission fee and just 20 minutes for the presentation which was fascinating. We went on our last day as the weather was showery and wished we'd gone sooner so we could have explored more of the town afterwards.

This is a fascinating experience, and I would recommend any visitor to Tavira to take the time to drop in. Our guide Kinga, was good humoured, and extremely knowledgable, guiding us through the fascinating views of the town and it's history.
