The light in Skagen has attracted some great artists through time, and it is very interesting to see how they manage to do that. Also the portraits of people are great.

Skagen is a long detour from the rest of Jutland and the rest of Denmark but the Skagen Museum makes it worth the time to get here. The town is pretty enough and the shoreline is spectacular. We were blown away by the beautiful works here. The way that the artists represented here used the local light in their art... More

When you go to Denmark, go to Skagen. The art museum there is the toots ice-cream of museums. Great paintings, great building, and close to the water. Right up there with Legoland Billund, (which is huge coming from a lego freak like me!) so don't take it as another boring art museum, take it as a horizon to view good... More

We especially enjoyed the former dining room with all those portraits of the painters that used to live there. And it is especially fun to find the places depicted in those pictures around Skagen and Hojen.

This museum is small by London standards and there are some beautiful pictures, but not many. The cafe is excellent with beautiful cakes and set in a lovely garden. BUT I do have an issue with being charged an extra amount for using a Foreign credit card in the shop. For a very small museum the entrance fee of 90... More

This museum is a must if you are visiting Skagen. You will learn about the history of this small fishing village by following the paintings of the famous impressionist "Skagen painters". Skagen was and still is known for its special light and therefore attracted about 100 years ago, many painters who created a colony that later became known as "Skagen... More

I have wanted to go to this museum for a very long time. I was not disappointed. The Kroyer works (and others) were numerous and fascinating. My mom and daughter were eager to go to supper, but I asked them to wait 30 minutes so I could give it the proper time. What a treasure.

Too expensive - but has all the famous "Skagen" painting you want to see. The garden is also cosy and the staff friendly.

I do not like being asked "Where are you from" when you buy a ticket. I even like less when they try twice after you say that we just want to see the museum. Also, they do not allow to keep handbags... The Danish painters failed to paint the beautiful Skagen sky... The Dutch painters got it!. Kroyer & Co... More
