The church is nice, the altar is nice, but beware. You can not even buy photo pass, that is a huge minus and if you try to talk about it with the lady, she becomes grumpy and sniffy. Oh, and the entrance is every hour. All in all, what you get is a very poor service.

This is a very pretty church, but it is very dark and dreary. No photography of any kind is permitted. Person who narrated the tour did not speak English and did not answer questions at all. We hired our own guide for the week and he gave us lots of information. Without him, we would not have learned very much.

That church has a number of truly amazing altars that sadly you cannot photographed (but one day someone will explain to the people in the museums authority that with new digital cameras and high resolution settings, it does not damage the monuments to take photos)... It is a pleasure to look at them, all the details are amazing. They were... More

Visited with a large group of people. The church's altars are beautifully made and there is quite a lot of history attached to them, and to the church itself. So based on that, I would recommend a visit! However, our group was made very much unwelcome by a very rude lady selling the tickets. While I appreciate that we all... More

This old church has a long history. It can only be visited on fixed intervals and with a tourguide. If you like history you will be surprised. The most relics were made during the 15th up to the 17th century. The tour is in the Slovakian language but if you state that you don't speak the language they lend you... More

The day we drove into Levoca, there wasn't a tour bus in sight. What a charming, quiet old village. We, too, enjoyed visiting the Chram sv Jakuba church and spending an hour gazing at the amazing wood carvings by Master Paul. A lady handed us a one-page guide to the church, written in English, which helped a lot. Buy tickets... More

1. There are no opening times but visitation hours. You have to show up at a defined time in front of the Church (outside) whether rain or shine. May be you are allowed to wait in the office facing the church's entrance - but no chairs are available. Or they may let you wait in the corridor in front of... More

I just saw the St Jacob Church was listed as the third attraction in Levoca. Of course, it is a first and main attraction. The famous wooden altar in the church is the magnet which brings tourists to town. It is said to be the tallest wooden altar in the world, by certain category. Once in town, the charm of... More

The entrance fee costs 3 euro. It really is an amazing place. The collection of the altars leaves you breathless! We were given a paper sheet where we had a description about the church, so we could visit and understand the place without a guide.

We came to Levoca to see the amazing city, however we found some of the churches closed during the day and St. Jacob's charging for entrance. Church's aren't supposed to profit of tourists, there places of spiritual importance. We wanted to take a few pictures and that is also banned. I'm happy to check out a church though to pay... More
