Worth a trip to see the castle itself, which had exhibits written up in English and German as well as local language. A quick look round takes about an hour, more if you are interested in reading everything

I booked a one day tour out of Vilnius. It was a small group with English-speaking guide. The bus trip to Trakai took 30 minutes and we had four hours to visit before the bus left for Vilnius again. The tour started with a guided tour at the castle and then everyone could walk around freely.

Well worth the visit. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. The Castle has ben restored and it is also worth exploring the ruins of the peninsula fort as well.

I liked Trakai - the place. It had a lot of restaurants and shops and many things to see. Right before you go to the bridge to get to the castle there are many things to do in the water.. for a price of course. The view from there was amazing. But when we came to the castle it was... More

Worth a trip out of Vilnius, 30 mins by bus, and a 20mins walk either along the lake shore or up the peninsular road. Touristy but plenty of information in English throughout the restored castle. Several cafe's and souvenir shops line the shore near the bridge over to the island castle

"Old castle" that has been restored using new materials. About half is original and half new. The museum is very interesting if you are interested in Lithuanian history, but the castle itself was a dissapoinment

You may find this castle not far from Vilnus (Lithuania). It is a beautiful place to spend the whole day there if you are a fun of historical places. It is located on a small island and visitors should cross a bridge to see all beauties of this place. If you are lucky and it is not rainy you enjoy... More
