This very beautiful castle shows its best when looked from outside, spectacularly located in the middle of the lake. Inside it is a bit less impressive, since very few rooms are open for visitors, moreover, furniture and other staff there comes from different centuries, even from XX century... Nevertheless, worth visiting.

It's not far away from Vilnius so everyone who is visiting should see it. The castle is in the middle of the lake and looks fabulous. There is even no need to go inside - if You don't have a lot of time You just can see the surroundings. One time me and my friend were walking around when we... More

Trakai Castle is one of my top destination in Lithuania. Only 1hour from Vilnius (by car, or bus), it is really worth spending half a day in Trakai. Located on an island, the Castle looks similar to Malbork Castle with several defensive layers (except that it is much smaller than Malbork). The museum inside the castle is really well-made with... Castle was... More

I went to Vilnius in July 2015 to explore this beautiful city. And I was fortunate enough to go to Trakai Castle. An enjoyable drive from Vilnius, the picturesque Trakai Castle was situated on an island on Lake Galvė. With it’s beautiful views overlooking the idyllic lake and park, it was very picturesque. You can access the Castle via the... More

We saw the Passenger concert here on August 11, 2015. Wonderful, intimate venue. The entire area surrounding the palace is beautiful.

The only reason to visit Trakai is to see this castle and the surrounding tranquil lake and it is definitely worth the effort. The castle has been restored and once used as a prison. Inside, there is not much to see but the lake is inviting and there is pedal powered boats and organised boat rides. The shore is lined... More

It is not a place full of gold and dresses, and whatnot... The castle has a great collection of furniture used in different centuries. Domestic, items, tableware, stuffed animals owned by the dukes, stamps with signatures or family names. Also, there's a hall that served as a church.
