Great castle, I love visiting it during four different seasons of the year as it always looks different. There are concerts and other cultural events sometimes held there, that are really impressive. If you have a chance, visit it! Nearby ks a nice redtaurant, great walk along the coast of the lake , in summer time many watersports activities.

It great to learn that Lithuania has such a strong history. The castle tour is setup well as it gives you lots of info to read. Even fun on a rainy day.

I loved the setting of this castle on an island, surrounded by a quiet lake. Families enjoying their time near-by, people on boats. Yet, it was re-built not so long time ago, thus it is not absolutely genuine (original). If you expect to see medieval ruin, this is not the place. But in general, if you're on your way from... So much Lithuanian history can be learned from visiting this castle on an island. It's only about half-an-hour drive from Vilnius, and is beautifully lit up in the evenings. Take a boat tour, if it's warm outside. Admission is fairly cheap, be sure to buy a separate "picture" ticket if you want to bring your camera inside to take pictures... More

a 40 mins drive from Vilnius you can easily get here by car, train, bus or join an organised excursion. Trakai was the first capital of Lithuania and is situated between beautiful lakes, wooden houses and lovely nature. During your visit you should not miss the taste of their yummi pastry with either meat, pork or chicken- its delicious. The... More

a reconstructed castle, more of a museum than castle. so what ? not original walls - but much better than empty rooms and a few walls. can spend 2-3 hours there if guide explains things and you look at ceramics and read info on various owners. weather permitting--nice walk around island and village outside.

Beautiful castle set on an island in a beautiful setting. Architecture and brick-work inside rooms is amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

Old castle was destroyed, this one is renovated, but it's really good. Very interesting. And very nice exposition inside.
