If you visit Lithuania you must definitely spend a day in Trakai. For photography fans Trakai is gold. The castle is like out of a fairy tale. The bright orange hue of the bricks are beautifully set off by the deep blue hue of the lake. Basically Trakai castle is a fairytale orange castle in the middle of the lake.... More

We all enjoyed visiting this old castle. I used to do it as a kid, and it is wonderful to see the improvements that they have made.

This castle is set on an island in Trakai. It is a beautiful restoration and worth the 30 minute bus journey from Vilnius. The castle itself has some interesting exhibits about the history of the castle, the local people and the local area.

Castle looks beautiful during winter with the frozen lake. Entry ticket costs 4.35 euro and it provides you with over one hour or walking around the castle. Remember to catch the train at 16:45, the next one is at 19:33 (i don't know what about buses)

The most important thing to visit in vilnius and actually in lithuania. So peaceful and beautiful. You can take nice pictures. Informations in castle are enough to learn about castle. Türkler ozellikle gitsinler, turklerle ilgili ilginc ve guzel seyler sergileniyor.

Easily accessible by bus or train from Central Vilnius in less than an hour, this is a really worth while visit that brings you close into a beautiful slice of nature to which History and Architecture add additional pleasures. I had not realized that at one time the charming little town of that name had served as the capital of... More

We took a local bus from the central bus station in Vilnius out to Trakai, and had a wonderful day out. It was snowing when we went and this added to the excitement and beauty of the day. It's only about a 40 minute journey and there are buses every 20 or 30 minutes. Fares are very inexpensive. Before you... More

All guide books write pages and pages about Trakai ... what more could I say . Tours from Vilnius come with bus loads of tourists and even if in some cases that is a bit unfortunate the beauty of the place and the exceptional castle built on the tiny island explain why this place is so popular . Try to... More

Wow. When I was told to visit Trakai I was skeptical as to whether seeing the castle was worth the 45 minute train journey however as soon as the castle came into view my doubts disappeared. The castle is brilliant, sitting in the middle of a peaceful lake. As it becomes larger from every bridge you cross you realise just... More

Very nice castle on the island in the middle of the lake. This place and castle in old times was the 2nd capital of Lithaunia before Vilnius. The castle is old, midle ages, build on island in the middle of the lake to better protect it. The bridge connect it to main land. The view around from castle walls is... More
