This is a really cool castle. It's interesting from the outside and on the inside, unlike some castles that are just empty inside. There's a museum inside with a lot of neat information about the history of the castle and surrounding area, but the architecture of the rooms is really fascinating as well. My 13-year-old cousin had been there before... More

The only lake castle in Europe. Our son visited this castle in winter ,so to visit on a summer's day was very different to the photos he took. A few stairs to climb, some easier then others, but worth the history lesson. A walk around the castle afterwards is beautiful. Enjoy a trip out of Vilnius to see.

Only half an hour on the train from Vilius, this is worth a visit. A lovely stroll (or there is a bus) from the station along the peninsula, through a pretty village of traditional wooden houses, brings you to the lake and the magically restored fairy tale castle. There are boats and restaurants and souvenir stalls nearby. The castle is... More

This was a really beautiful and exciting place packed with history ( XIV-XVth) and the only Eastern European castle built on an island. It is in lush surroundings with lots of great walks around it and the beautiful river surrounding it. You can take a long or short walk around the grounds and also boats are very cheap to hire....
