I find old cemeteries to be interesting and peaceful places to visit especially when visiting another country. This one is extraordinary. It is mammoth. It is very well maintained and the sculptures are just beautiful especially when you factor in the effects of Mother Nature. The flower cart lined entrance to the cemetary is dramatic with a statue of Mother... More

This is definitely worth a visit. It is well tended and a beautiful tribute to those who gave their lives for their country. There is a sense of peace as you wander around and the sculptures are quite something. Take the time to visit.

Have been to Riga 4 times in the last 2 years and always make time to visit the cemetery - as someone stated, Fall is nice but any time of the year is good. Sit on the steps, look at “Mother Latvia” , read the names of those who gave their lives for their country. It's a part of the... More

I'm not fan of cemetaries, unless it's 2nd of November, but this one was definitely worth the visit. I visited with local friend so she told me a bit of history of freedom movement and what certain sculptures means. Eternal fire is also nice to see. I believ this place should look beautiful in autum as there's park around and... More

Please change a picture: this place is not Brother`s cemetery but so called 'Three brothers' in Old Riga.

This is part of the city cemetery and is dedicated to those who fought occupation and strived to free Latvia. It is a moving experience visiting the grave plaques and eternal flame. There is also the statue of Mother Latvia dominating the whole area. Take the number 8 tram up Valdermara Street for the city centre.
