The Art Nouveau district in Riga is the best example of this architecture I´ve ever seen together. After admiring Horta´s work in Brussels, Gaudí´s in Barcelona and strolling all around Oradea in Romania, I can say that architect lovers will be delighted. You don´t have to take a vehicle for the next highlight. Here all the impressive buildings are next... More

Riga has an amazing selection of Art Nouveau buildings. This style of architecture is expressed in a number of ways; bunches of flowers, ornamentation, sinuous, undulating lines and other similar expressions. Walking around you realise that this is something special for Riga. The quarter you find North East of the city center. The street "Alberta Iela" is a key street... More

Well, these buildings are everywhere and are so many that becomes unusual to find something different ;) Please dedicate time to visit Alberta and, if possible, go with a guide so you don't miss some interesting details. Enjoy

Absolutely breath-taking. I have never seen so many Art Nouveau buildings in such a small area. The buildings on Alberta, Elizabetes and Streinieku Iela are well worth a look. Even if you are not a fan of Art Nouveau you will be fascinated by the architecture and the craftsmanship that went into constructing these amazing fantasies. Some are in a... More

Beautiful place for architecture and history lovers - both to observe the quarters and to visit the museum, which is just an apartment renovated and reconstructed with the kept Art Nouveau style.

Amazing - Mesmerizing the best concentration of Art Nouveau in Europe. Concentrations of buildings on Albert, Elizabetes, and Streinieku Ielas (streets). Again on Vilandaes and Rupniecibas Ielas. Fantastic in their variety and appeal. Most fully restored to their past splendor; a few in sad shape with the hope of future restoration. all still being used as shops, residences and embassy's.... The building actually houses two museum. On ground level the actual Art Nouveau museum, where staff dressed up in fin-de-siècle clothes. The interior really is breathtaking (how I wish this museum would be situated in Brussels ...). On the top floor is the former appartment and workshop of a painter. A huge difference with the ground floor appartment! Basic furniture,... More

Across from Alberta Iela (street) is this wonderful shop where you can find just the right thing to capture the beauty and romance of Rīga. At first I just stopped by to quickly find something to highlight the Jugendstil tour of the centre but as I was in the city for a longer time I kept finding myself coming back... More

Definitely visit this place; you will spend hours looking at the nice things they sell at surprisingly moderate prices. A lot of love for Riga's Art Nouveau, ingenuity and originality has gone into the items on offer, everyone will find something to match their taste.

This shop and store called Istaba are two really cool shops in Riga that are doing something different. This place feels like Mucha's studio.

Thanks for the appreciation. Indeed, we gladly work to seek out local artists and develop our own Art Nouveau inspired ideas to stay different and original. Something for everyone to remember Riga's Art Nouveau treasures by. More
