One of my favourite zoos in Europe and for sure- the oldest one in Europe. There is nice selection of terrariums for those who love snakes and spiders!!!

We take our kids there every year and it never disappoints! It is not on the scale of say the Toronto zoo but for the size of the country and the age of the zoo, it delivers. I cannot think of any of the main zoo animals it is missing so well worth a trip to check it out. Bring... More

When weather is nice, can enjoy also picnic in Zoo area - beautiful location in Mezaparks, by the lake. Make sure to plan your visit around time when cute seal named Puika is fed( in August it was at 2pm). He show tricks in order to get his fish-kids really enjoyed the show!

I really just wish someone would that a look at that lion. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the RIBCAGE should NOT be showing. We went in with good expectations based on reviews from Trip Advisor. It starts out ok, with seals, and flamingos and other animals that look relatively healthy. Then we ran into cows and goats, which... More

If you like animals and prefer zoos that offer good living conditions to all of it's residents, then the Riga zoo might not be the best place to visit. There's plenty to see, but some of the animals have terrible living conditions.

Not bad but much smaller than, for example, the Berlin Zoo. Could be a nice family day out, especially with children, provided, of course that the weather is nice.

I first visited the zoo in 1993. The memories still linger and, with some trepidation, I visited again this summer. The person in the ticket office was quite friendly. The paper zoo plan was not very user-friendly and did not seem to offer any logical route to cover the site. I was impressed by the new giraffe facility, the tropical... More

We were almost completely alone in the park. No one else was there. The park itself is not to big, but got a fair variety of animals and lots to see. Cheap Entrance and a perfect place to kill of some time

Nice zoo, average size, located in woody place near lake. Nice, naturel atmosphere, good interior and buildings. No dislikes, good place to rest and look to different animals.

We went two times. Entrance is 6E for adults. Not expensive. Zoo area is big but not like Berlin Zoo. For Riga, can say enough size and enough to show animals for kids. Adults can see also animals and rest in simple restaurants and cafe. Do not expect luxury cafe and restaurant. Some animals can not seen easily. And you... More
