If you are trying to find the most fun place to visit with your kids, this is exactly that place. Zoo is big and your children would remember the variety of wild nature animals for a long time.

I liked it. It was interesting, however, difficult to compare with other zoo because I have not really been in. However, as the Latvian live I can say that I have been here several times (a 2-3) and definitely will come another time, really hard to say or what really spectacular to see. BUT animal diversity here is defined and... More

The entrance fee is probably made for only some of the animal attractions... the seals were pretty funny, even sleeping and just swimming around. The tiger/bear/lions were all sleeping, and the kangaroo was pretty lazy to get out of the shadows :D On the other hand the monkeys and the meerkats are probably the most fun and adorable show-makers in... Since the fall of the Soviet Union this zoo has fallen on hard times. Its uniqueness is not in the animals per se but rather in allowing you to see how much a regal animal house needs support

The Zoo is quite big and has lots of different animals to see. I go to this zoo at least once a year for 20 years and it never stops to fascinate me. They always make something new:new types of animals, exhibits, attractions. The best parts for me are the petting zoo with farm animals, tropical house that really has... More

It's an OP place to go but the only sad thing is that they don't have anymore elephants. I remember when I was little I saw them but then they moved to like Japan or someplace there. I wish they had them again.

Very reasonably priced at 6 euros per person, accessible from Riga town centre on tram 11 or 10 euro in taxi. Large, open spaces to walk around. Went in Easter UK holidays, extremely quiet around the zoo. In alligator enclosure, some strange creatures that you don't expect to see in a zoo. Animal enclosures ok, large but a lot lacked... The variated selection of animals are splendid. The zoo is a bit worn down and no fancy playgrounds, but a very good zoo. Only downside is the lack of indoors cafes. It is way to cold to eat outside in april.

The number 11 tram stops right outside the zoo, which is probably the best way to get here. Cheap entry at 6euros for an adult and 4 euros for students. The zoo was large and very clean, expect to spend at least three hours here! There were plenty of animals to see, although about a quarter of the enclosures were... More
