Riga Zoo is a great place for families as well as for the couples. Apart from wild animals, you can also meet there farm anilams, like pigs, chickens or sheep. If you like visiting such gardens, you will not be disappointed. Nex to the Zoo there is really nice park in which you can walk if the weather is good.

Interesting tram ride to the zoo - passes through variety of areas - and the tram stops outside the zoo. Zoo was better than expected. Range of animals - majority in good surroundings. There is a lot of work going on - but it looks like it is a slow process. I did think that the polar bear and the... More

The exceedingly cheap entrance fee (6 euros) should tip you off to the nature of the zoo. The enclosures are tiny, facilities poorly maintained and the animals all look kind of sickly - in particular there was a very scrawny lion who did not look healthy. Also, most of the marked food/drinks stands were closed and the cafe looked as... More

We have recently been to Riga zoo and were worried about finding it. We found the tram stop for the number 11 which are also signed on a lot of maps. It cost £1 or EUR 1.20 for a return to Mezaparks. People keep saying its 20 minutes but its actually 30 minutes and doesn't seem that long as you... More

I love visiting zoos, and visit them often with my husband. This one was really disappointing. Lots of the displays were empty and the ones that had animals in had such dirty glass that you couldn't see them anyway. Entrance was only 6 Euros which is very reasonable, but without any animals to see I wouldn't bother!

Went to the Zoo for their 'Winter Nights' - felt like we had the place to ourselves! Lovely zoo, and was great to see the animals at a different time of the day. Very cold, but was good to warm up in the tropical house! A fire was lit in the middle of the Zoo which was a great relief... More

We took our 2 year old to the night zoo. Cheap as chips and amazing to see the animals trotting, skulking and swinging about at night

Maybe it's not that cool as in the Berlin with more natural fences, but they have a quite wide range of animals, many of them have got a new places to live and its good that you can see everything in quite short time, about 2-3 hours.

Firstly, very easy to get here via tram, it was literally 50centines (half a lat) to get here each way. However, fo the lazier traveller or those with a less than great sense of direction, it's only 7lats or so in a taxi each way for the 25minute journey. The zoo itself is good value. There is a wide selection... More
