Can be seen from throughout Old Town. Try to go when there is the changing of the guard for that special effect, but also see it from Bastion Hill and at night at a bare minimum!

With its prime location, it is hard to miss this monument. During the day, they have a changing of the guard every hour on the hour.

Freedom monument is a must see. Very tall, very high standing proud. You will need a SLR camera if you want to get a detailed shot at this as its quite high. Short walking distance from the National Opera House.

Located just outside the old town in the centre of riga, its worth a look and a few pictures its modern look just outside of the old town offers a good contrast in style.

Over the river from the Old Town, the Soviet era Victory Monument (to the sacrifices of the Red Army in defeating Nazism) is considerably more impressive than this. The so-called Freedom Monument is disappointing, despite its prominent location.

Affectionately known as 'Milda', she is quite stunning. A testimony to the experiences of the People of Latvia. She is a short walk from the old town and a nice modern contrast to the sites there.

Make the effort to visit this monument. Its modern style provides a contrast to all the ancient buildings around Riga. Close to the opera and the old city so it's easy to reach on foot.

Lovely city, full of culture and history. Magnificent buildings, the Freedom Monument being one of them. This city has retained the old world atmosphere. Wonderful Latvian restaurants and local cafés. Three days was not long enough to do and see everything.

We visited the Freedom Monument and surrounding area as part of our recent Baltic cruise. t's a stunning monument, with easy access to it, as traffic is not allowed nearby. Beautiful parks and canals nearby. Well worth a visit.
