Outstanding performance! Saw 'Sleeping Beauty' and it was remarkable. I recommend during the interval a nice glass of champagne and the canapés.
The operastaff is very friendly and elegant and the opera was provided with English subtitles. The ticketprices are very reasonable and the facility is well maintained. One disadvantage is that the restaurant/bar only accepts cash. One triviainfo: There are some really cute stray cats living behind the opera building and the (current) director also allows them to be there, while... More
Sleeping Beauty was a delight to see. Music was wonderful, building delightful and the experience extremely special. This is what an opera house should look like and everything from the gilt decor to the little brass tokens for the cloakroom transported the audience to a bygone era. Highly recommended and inexpensive too.
This is the way how an opera building should look, absolutely beautiful. We got the the tickets at 10 in the morning, when it opens, and saw a show from 7 to 10. In between were breaks in which you could admire the enchanting and splendid opera building. A definite must see!
I'm not enough of a student of voice to comment on the singing with expertise. But to my ear it was as good as I have heard. It's not a large house which puts everyone close to the action an gives a sense of intimacy. The acoustics were good and the price a bargain compared to a comparable opera in... More
The Opera House is very preserved and classy - like a big Opera Houses in Europe with 3 balconies and sitting boxes all with red and gold.. The ballet was nice with excellent prima ballerina
While in Riga, we went to see a performance of the ballet 'Swan Lake' at the Opera House. The opulent surroundings, with beautiful mouldings, decorative gold leaf, huge chandelier and comfortable seating, set the scene. The ballet itself was a feast for the senses. The costumes were rich and colourful and the dancing superb. The Corps de Ballet was excellent;... More

The performers are top class, of the highest international level. The composer with his symphony orchestra does a terrific work. The complete show was translated... More
