The building is extremely beautiful- from the stairs, to the hallways, the bar area, and the theatre itself. Tickets are very cheap- starting from 5euros. However, 1) book tickets online at least 2-3 weeks beforehand, 2) choose good seats! Our tickets were at the dress circle, with minimal visibility- left before the third act finished because the people at the... More

A beautiful opera house with very affordable prices. We want to see Swan Lake ballet. We paid 18€/person for very good seats. The online reservation is easy to use, available also in English, and tickets can be printed beforehand. The ballet itself was a high quality performance and the acoustics of the Opera house are very good.

We came to the opera house to look at the architecture and admire the building, which is stunning. However we had some spare time on our hands to we enquired about tickets to see a show, we got two tickets to see Madame Butterfly for €18.50! (One adult, one student) we were on the second floor but still had a... More

As we were staying near the Opera House we decided to enquire about tickets and we were delighted to get two good seats for a production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut for €10 each. It was a lovely way to get inside the theatre and enjoy its style and architecture and a very good opera at the same time. The opera... More

Latvian National Opera now is recalled as Latvian National Opera and Ballet, as almost a hundred years the ballet performances are taking place there as well. On the 21st century new hall was built as addition to the more than hundred years old classicism style theatre building. From my point of view the word National in the name of Latvian... More

What a find! A three day break in Riga was highlighted by a visit to this beautiful theatre to see a great performance of Swan Lake. The theatre is small and intimate and it seemed to me that no matter where your seat was located you were close enough to truly feel part of the performance. But it was not... More

The preserved theater is a gem, good acoustics, unusual tiering of balconies, comfortable seats. And such reasonable prices. We watched the ballet about the Indian prince and saw a larger chorus on stage than in Swan Lake. Incredible costuming, although having the male chorus in black face is certainly correctable!

This building is in an area where the architecture is what Riga is all about - it's a lovely old building ; that has the appearance of an ancient Greek Temple from the façade. You can't miss having a look when in the City.

We attended the Swan Lake. It was easy to buy the tickets (office open every day between 10 and 17, tbc). You can get great seats for a fair price. The evening was beautiful : top quality of the play, musicians, dancers. The opera is beautifully decorated. Worth an evening in any case!
