This building has lots of interesting history, plus its quite nice to take photos around it. I recommend visiting it during a stroll.

Was definitely one of the most memorable event during my 3-day trip to Riga. The house itself is really charming, even it's not in the best shape, some renovation inside would be welcome. The performance (La Boheme) was a nice surprise, it was really comparable to ones of much bigger & richer opera houses, especially the chorus & the strings.... More

We loved the Opera. The words displayed in English helped us with the storyline. We were thrilled to go to the Opera!! There are stairs and if you go to cheap and get the highest seats in the balcony, the hanging spot lights block the english words displayed on the ceiling hung digital display board. Many people could be heard... More

Booked seats on line for myself and my wife in the UK, a thing we do in the Eastern European cities when we go to the opera houses, a process in itself which is easy to do ! Went to two performances, Il Travatore and Swan Lake, both fantastic. In the Opera we had the 'best stalls seats' (25 Euro... More

We were lucky enough to see Turandot in the very impressive Opera House. Comfortable seats in the balcony. Sadly the people in front of us insisted on sitting on the edge of their seats and leaning on the balcony bars therefore restricting the viewing of people behind. I find that sort of behaviour very selfish. However the performance was very... More

• National Opera House in Aspazijas bulvaris via tram 10 was built in 1863 and fully restored in 1995 and looks similar to Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre. This area has many fine buildings. Situated by one of the many parks in Riga.

We conducted a backstage visit at day time when the opera was not in function and outside it was raining. It was a right decision! The opera guide who works there brings us all around the place and there we learn a lot about its history and how it is operating. Not a top-notched , hi-tech opera but the way... More
