We had a very inspiring free walking tour in Vilnius that transmitted knowledge and love for its own country. In Riga during the tour little information was given about recent national history. There was only one single guide that made that the group was too big.

Was very nice walking tour through Riga! Our tour guide Martin spoke perfect English, was very entertaining and told us lots of interesting facts that you can't find in usual travel books. It almost skips the old town and there are lots of walking in those 2,5 hours, but time flew by and even little rain didn't spoil the mood:)

I attended a free tour of Ljubljana back in May which was excellent so was really looking forward to the Riga version. Unfortunately, the route didn't quite live up to my expectations - which could be because they were high, but may also have something to do with the tour itself, which largely skips Old Town (for fair reasons) and... I had a fantastic walking tour of Riga - courtesy of the free Riga tour. Our tour guide was super enthusiastic, very resourceful and gave us a great overview of Riga by taking us through a lot of places around Riga (outside of the Old Town). Thanks to the tour staff for putting together a great list of things that... More

Our guide was really knowledgeable, funny and spoke perfect English. Quite a lot of walking, but great to see some of the more obscure parts of the city and learn about local culture and history. It is worth doing this tour as soon as you arrive as it gives you a great overview and orientates you in the city. Afterwards... More

The tour, especially with Martin, are a great introduction to the Riga that isn't just Old Town. He is funny, engaging, and entertaining. Just be forewarned that the pace and distance of the walking tour is not for everyone. If you're fit and willing to walk distances at a brisk pace, this is the tour for you. PS--I would suggest... For anyone visiting Riga for the first time, I guess that one may quickly feel that the essentials have been visited very quickly and that there is little more to explore. We certainly felt that way after a short time. This tour helps to see more of Riga than just the Old Town and gets a nice introduction to some... More
