People visit Tallinn to see Viru square, it must be your priority during your Tallinn visit. Great restaurants around but not the cheapest in Tallinn.

Another place worth a visit, easy access and gives a great feel of e place. All sorts of shops. Amber is the biggest seller if that appeals.

Viru Square is on the eastern edge of Tallinn Old Town and one of the main pedestrian routes into the touristic heart of the city. As you approach the twin towers of Viru Gate, built in the 1350's, there are rows of flower shops down one side and some very nice cafés on the other. Kalle Kusta is a great... More

The Viru gate together with other gates around the Old Town make up what used to be the wall surrounding the old kingdom. It gave me a thrill thinking that I was walking on and around history of centuries. This square is filled with flower shops since I visited during summer, which gives it such a colorful background. Walking up... More

You`ll find Hesburger, Alko and tobacco stores , taxi station and many flower shops here. Nice area and always a lot of people here. The gate to old town. Right inside you`ll find Mac Donalds. Main street in old town goes up to the main square.

Viru square is situated by the two towers leading into old town and has a mixture of the Viru shopping centre on one side and the flower stalls on the other. Lots of traditional souvenir stalls and horse carriages in the area. A tourist trap but nice to look at, but prices are the second highest here after the main... More

After our Ho Ho tour we walked through the viru square as it was snowing hard, we bought some hot chocolate from the MacDonald`s for the road and headed to town centre passing many nice shops.

I guess 99% of tourists goes to Old Town, if they are visiting Tallinn and 99% of those are going to Viru Square area. Especially summertime full of people, so this is basically centre of everything. Beautiful old buildings, cobble streets and little shops. And don't forget all those bars and restaurants. Must visit in Tallinn!

Nice entrance to the Old City Center, where you can take some great photos and buy some flowers for your other half. It is one of the things that best define Tallinn architecture. Can't and shouldn't miss it.
