Very quaint town. Very interesting old town and very easy walking tour. Doing it alone with a friend sure beats the tours organized by the cruise company. Ate elk soup for lunch and shopped till we dropped. Casually walked back to the cruise ship on our own time. the most relaxing time of all. We travelled on the Royal Caribbean... More

I enjoyed mostly the flower shop at the entrance of square. There was colorfull flowers and to watch them was so lovely. The streets are narrow but little, cute place to visit it. City is not expensive , you can sit somewhere and can drink something.

Surprising City in many ways, it seemed to us at the time to be a city and country that was glad to see the back of the USSR. Very friendly

Tallinn is a truly beautiful city and the Viru square is just one of those places that you will not miss at all. The restaurants are nice and there are many shops in the area and to me this is not pricey. I went to Tallinn for a conference but I did spend a fair bit of times visiting the... More

Another place worth a visit, easy access and gives a great feel of e place. All sorts of shops. Amber is the biggest seller if that appeals.

Viru Square is on the eastern edge of Tallinn Old Town and one of the main pedestrian routes into the touristic heart of the city. As you approach the twin towers of Viru Gate, built in the 1350's, there are rows of flower shops down one side and some very nice cafés on the other. Kalle Kusta is a great... More

The Viru gate together with other gates around the Old Town make up what used to be the wall surrounding the old kingdom. It gave me a thrill thinking that I was walking on and around history of centuries. This square is filled with flower shops since I visited during summer, which gives it such a colorful background. Walking up... More
