If you find yourselft with time between eating and drinking in Old Tallinn the Mariime Museum is worth a visit. It shows the close maritime connection that we have with the Estonian people and the viewing tower is great for views of old and new Tallinn. More

As we were not really interested in Maratime history this was not really worth the cover charge for us. We did not learn much about Estonia really. From the roof there is a view of the ports and the town but that was the highlight for us. The museum is in the Fat Margaret tower which you can view from... More

This museum is really fun for all people and especially families, but you have to be quite agile, and is not suitable for push chairs and such like. You can climb all over and inside the boats and submarines, the machinery inside is amazing and fascinating. We highly recommend it. However it was quite hard to find. So give yourself... More

After some really good museums in Tallinn (e.g. Kumu, Town Hall, Open-air museum) The Maritime museum was rather a dissapoitment. Most of the exhibits are old, dated back from the soviet period and certainly have some Soviet influence, while other part of the exhibition tries to highlight the achivement of independent Estonia - sometime the result of this mix is... In this museum you can see many models of different boats and true equipment from different periodes. I think it's a nice place for people who are interestet in boats and maritime history. It has equipment from really old boats, as well as a model and the bell from the Estonia passenger ferry who went down in 1994. Outside of... More
