I walked through this area together with the free walking tour and it is a fabulous area to walk about. I enjoyed the people's expression in their art and attitude here. Do not miss reading their constitution!

It's a nice place that you can not miss if you are in the downtown. This is a little republic. Go slowly you have ....

As much as I enjoy walking through Vilnius and it's Old Town, I most enjoy Uzupis. It has a cool, funky feeling, and it's not so overwhelmed with tourists as other parts of Old Town. It's a bit slower and more relaxed, more livable. If you need a break from the tourist activities that beckon for your attention on Pilies... More

This is an amusing republic in the middle of Vilnius . the Free tour guide usually passes through there and then through the woods to get back the old city of Vilnius. In the repubilc you can see couple of interesting this like the Uzupis statue and their great constitution plaques , and you can find a lot of artists,... More

A very nice and funny idea! This fake indipendent state will conquer your hearts! Advisable both in daytime for a tour and in the night for eating in one of its restaurants!

People who compare this area to Montmartre have clearly never been to Montmartre. Shabby buildings, few shops and cafes and generally run doen feeling make this area not worth visiting. Constitution plaques are trite but the only highlight.

It's on the tourist trail - just to see the constitution plaques. But that is about it. Once you cross the bridge from the old town you lose the beautiful buildings and enter just another neighbourhood. Stayed for a coffee, a quick meander then back into the old town. Not really worth the effort.

Good place for a morning stroll. Winding streets, check out the Constitution on the wall near the main square. Uzupis Kavine good place for a snack or pastry, right on the river across from the little mermaid. Not as funky as Christiania in Copenhagen, but OK for a brief visit.

Uzuis is definitely a must for each visit to Vilnius. It is its 'bohemienne' like atmosphere that makes it so special. Walking around the small streets and alleys of Uzupis, which are full of art pieces (mainly, but not limited to, street art), is surely worthwhile.

Because you don’t live here, you will enjoy Uzupis immensely more than its residents, whose rents have skyrocketed since the "independent nation's" hipster status became cemented in this alternative side of Vilnius. The best way to take in Uzupis is on the free walking tour, where you will get a an entertaining history lesson. Be sure to see the backpacking... More
