Go Tuesday-Saturday!

Uzupis was fun to visit, but unfortunately, most of the galleries and shops were closed on the days we went. Plan to go Tuesday-Saturday, when more is open! Be sure to stop by and... read more

In comparison to similar areas in other European towns (e.g. Krakow, Poland or Prague, Czech Rep) Uzupis in Vilnius looks rather poor. It still needs wise investment to fully exploit its high potential. I can however imagine this place to become very attractive in the years to come.

This place is quite different from any other destinations I've ever visited. The constitution is really interesting and worth reading because you can't find such rules except Uzupis. Here animals have equal rights as humans. If you want to meet interesting people you should visit Uzupis republic. For night life lovers I suggest this place, Uzupis becomes alive at night.

A very pintoresque neighbourhood. I randomly walked into it as it wasn't in my guide but I enjoyed the visit

We discovered this place when we took a free walking tour of the city, and we were so fascinated by the place that we wanted to spend more time exploring the area on our own. It was definitely worth the effort - we took our time enjoying the many interesting details including buying postcards of the constitution, enjoying lunch at... More

It is quirky, eccentric, crazy and it was originally a squat but now a self-declared "Republic"! It apparently measures 148 acres and has a population of 7000 of which a high proportion are artists. It has its own flag and constitution! Don't go out of your way to visit it but do have a look if you happen to be... More

Was taken through Uzupis on a walking tour. The whole place is quirky and endearing. Take the time to go read their constitution; it has been translated into a bunch of languages so many have access it it :)

We visited this place with a guide. It is highly recommended, as a lot of the things to see there becomes much more interesting when you know the background story. Just walking on your own can be nice too, but you should at least read a bit in advance to understand why this place is special and why some things... More

When I read about this I was very enthusiastic. It seems so unreal! The vibe around there is really good. It opens your mind and let you rethink about all the things in life. Hopefully the constitution will be there in Dutch one day!

We went here after reading the reviews and write ups in guidebooks but we were underwhelmed as we did not see much to make the visit worthwhile. We wondered if this was a PR exercise to get people in this part of the city.
