We came here twice. First time riding the funicular (1.5 euros roundtrip) and the second time we walked (cobblestone uphill walkway behind Cathedral Square). The walk isn't too bad if you don't want to pay for the funicular. Once up there, we didn't pay to go up on the tower. We felt we got a good panorama view below and... More

Gediminas Tower is technically the "Upper Castle," the ruins of the 14th-15th century walls and fortifications that were largely abandoned in the 16th century. There are a couple ways to climb the will and all will discourage people with mobility problems and parents pushing heavy strollers. If you have kids, make sure you keep a close eye on them--it is... This was our second trip to Vilnius,we never went here on the first occasion but this was a must go destination on our recent trip to this fantastic city, and this tower is the history of this city. This is what remain's of the castle,a tower but it was well worth the visit. We took the funicular up here then payed... More

The Gediminas Tower is approximately 40km from the city. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative, The castle is well preserved and provides some insight into the history of Lithuania. There are some quaint restaurants at the end of the tour. I would recommend and have a meal and enjoy the view.

This short, but steep walk rewards you with a great view of Vilnius old town. To pay for seeing the museum is a waste of money, very little to see.

Great fun to walk around the hill to the top. The view is well worth the climb. It's €2 to access the castle at the top. Probably only worth doing on a sunny day as the view on the top of the hill is still really good.

The tower is bigger than it looks, so that's a bonus. Inside there isn't much in the way of exhibits so a visit won't take long. There are narrow, spiral staircases, so be warned if you have very young kids. The view from the top I think is the best you can get of Vilnius. There are lots of very... More

The views from atop are great and worth the couple Euro fee. If you go on a clear day, you can see quite far. Museum on each level as you climb up is nice, just rather simple. One of the floors has a good replica of what the original area looked like. If you don't want to pay to go... More

This is a must during a stay in Vilnius. Its a good walk up, although you can take the funicular. The tower is actually a museum of the original castle that fortified Vilnius many years ago.

One can walk up or take the ride but either way the view is worth it. You see the old town, the river and the modern skyscrapers and malls. It very well encapsulates the whole spirit of Lithuania or Vilnius maybe: from the cheerful, red tiled, old buildings to the serious buildings of recent history to the shiny glitzy present.
