M.K.Ciurlionis is probably most famous artist from Lithuania. He didn't make only paintings but he was music composer as well. This museum shows loads of his work and you can enjoy his music too. I visited this place thanks to school trip and I advise you to do one thing: ask if they can show you around and explain his... More

Very conveniently located in centre of Kaunas. It is open all year and is about a three hour stop if you really want to explore his art and listen to some of his music.

A well laid out and interesting art museum, although we did not find his style entirely to our taste. The museum is well situated and close to the Devils' Museum which we also visited

Although much of this art museum was closed for renovation,I still considered this art museum excellent for its wonderful exhibition of Curlionis' oil paintings and pastel works.Favorite Curlionis works of mine were;"Lightning","Pyramid Series",and"Sunrise".The 2 Euro admission fee is a genuine bargain and Curlionis' works are labelled in English as well as Lithuanian.

M.K. Ciurlionis was a painter and composer who deserves international recognition and acclaim. Enter the museum from the side facing away from the street. Entrance fee is 2euro. Skip the gift shop until you're done. Turn right and go down the stairs to view an extensive exhibit regarding the life of Ciurlionis. Explanatory laminated pamphlets were available in multiple languages,... More

Not enough information in English, no books in English about such an interesting artist, not even postcards.

The museum is named after the country's most famous and perhaps greatest artist and composer. His paintings illuminate his fascination with music, philosophy, cosmology, life and death. His art can be classified as symbolist, surrealist or even representational. Highly recommended

Картины сложны для восприятия - Чурленис - символист и на многих работах он "рисовал музыку".. но комната, где играла его музыка, симфонии - просто наслаждение. Очень рада, что познакомилась с его творчеством... The paintings are hard to comprehend and understand.. Ciurlionis was a symbolist and in many of his works he was "drawing music"... but the room where they play... More

This is a purpose-built and attractive museum about one person who was, in his 36 years, both an important 'painter' and composer. The paintings, largely pastel and tempora, are of considerable interest. The floor below is devoted to a music theatre where you can hear a selection of the composer's works, again of high standard and well worth a listen.... More
