I liked their war history as well as the information on their unique linkage to the Austrians as well as Hungary. Also the Communist era when there was a Iron curtain and although Vienna is just one hour away now, was so far away then

It is a shame I took so long to visit this museum - being right there, in the centre, at Radničné námestie (the Townhall Square), right next to Hlavné námestie (the Main Square' in the Oldtown. The Museum host some exhibitions displaying various artefact from the town's history, some pictures, costumes, but also vintage industrial and food brands produce. Take... More

The City Museum is located in the main square and passing through the courtyard, you come to museum in the old Town Hall. The museum contains a wonderful array of artifacts and displays tracing the city from its earliest days (900s) to the early 20th century. You can follow the fortunes of the city through various invaders and emperors. Not... More

Located in the main square, the City Museum is one of the most impressive buildings in the centre of Bratislava. It is church like with its tower and civic offices. Inside through a narrow opening the courtyard opens out into a modern plate glass entrance, pay desk, and non-functioning computerised barriers. There is also a lift, toilets and a bag... More

Great collection of city history and fantastic walk in the old building. Do not miss to walk up to tower and admire the splendid view of city.

We recently revisited the Bratislava City Museum (€5 per adult), which opened in 1868 and is probably Bratislava's most comprehensive and best overall museum. Here you can find a nice collection of historical artefacts and information about the lives of people of Bratislava from the medieval period through to the 20th century. While the rooms are generally arranged in a... More

Interesting to see the history of the city trade exhibits but not sure why a display about city bakers shared a cabinet with a midwifery display. Overall I was left confused as to the history of the building having been sent to the top of the building via many winding stair cases only to see empty rooms! However it passed... More

We stumbled into the museum because we wanted to climb the tower of the Old Town Hall which now houses the museum. Admission was really cheap (5 euros each) and they had interesting artifacts from the city's history dating back to when it was the capitol of Hungary. The best part was the tower. It would be great in daytime,... More

I stumbled across this by accident. I didnt even know it was here. I ended up going through this arched entry way into a courtyard then I saw the signs for the museums. It only cost 5 Euro and there is a lot of interesting things to see. Your ticket also includes the tower which gives you very nice views.

This is an okay museum to visit and learn a bit about the city of Bratislava. The staff are not very friendly. They are very insistent on which direction you walk. Sometimes it's nice to go back and look at an exhibit after another group has finished seeing it. We were being followed and stared at the entire time by the... More
