The surroundings of the castle are just gorgeous! Beautiful views of the Danube as well as the town. The castle also houses beautiful halls, but there's a lot of room for few exhibitions and some of them are very limited and not that interesting. One, which I found enjoyable, was about paitings of important characters of Slovak history as well... More

Different exhibitions and plenty of information about the restoration of the castle. I'm not really much of a museum goer but enjoyed spending a couple of hours looking at the varied exhibits here. The gardens were being dug up to be re done when I visited in February.

This castle quite dominates the city and is easily identifiable. Despite this it is not signposted very well! Even though it overlooks the city it is not a difficult walk to reach, no great amount of steps but rather a gentle stroll. There is a lot of renovation going on but this didn't distract from the beauty or history of... More

We were so lucky! Excellent weather and top view! We reached with the small red tour bus and had a stop there! Will never forget!

Hrad castle is an impressive mixture of Gothic, Renaissance, and Romanesque architecture. It is believed that the site on which the castle was built has served as an acropolis as far back as the Hallstatt era. The current structure is situated on a hill that straddles the Danube River. Construction started in the 9th century and continued off and on... More

Impressive from the exterior, lots of unused space. Cheap entry, 4 euros. Good exhibition on the Etruscans, was enjoyable. But need to do more with the space and improve exhibits.

We walked up to the Castle and enjoyed the views of the bridge and old town from the top. After going inside we found the selection of exhibits a little varied, although the original Roman artefacts and excavations were exciting. There was also a very good study of the First World War to commemorate 100 years since its outbreak, and... More

We walked up to the castle from the old town. The walk is interesting with good views and cobble stone walkways. One gets good view of the town, Danube river, UFO restaurant and hills. There are some museums in the castle which are average. We went to one which displays items found in the castle. The souvenir shop at the... More

Although rebuilt its still a very interesting place to visit with numerous different exhibitions with in the castle . On the day we visited we had a blizzard so we where unable to see any of the views of the old town or the Danube but the blizzard made the walk back to the old town very interesting !! The... More
