History of the Bratislava Castle: In the 9th century there was the Great Moravian fort here, that fort was later turned into a castle and Hungarians ruled here. After the occupation of Buda by the Turks the castle served as a residence of the Hungarian kings. Now it is the seat of the Slovak National Museum, also serves leaders of... More

The best part of this "castle" was the walk to the grounds from the main square. The walk is very pretty, up a winding hill through town. We stopped for lunch along the way and took in the view, then continued to the top. The grounds of the castle are great and definitely worth a look in good weather. The... More

Visitors can walk around the outside of the castle and within the castle walls, but there is not much to see inside the castle, especially that is of interest to kids. There is a souvenir shop along the inside of the outer wall with typical touristy items for sale. A big project is underway to dig up the grounds and... More

Potentially very interesting but still being renovated and new exhibits installed. It has been refurbished recently and has some appealing pictures ondisplay. It has an excellent and fascinating exhibition on ww1

Knowing little about Slovakian history it gave us a bit of an insight. The castle has been refurbished a little too much in my opinion and has the appearance more along the lines of a modern museum.

The structure is imposing, and I think better viewed from further away. However, the museum inside is very interesting and I found myself spending more time inside than I though I would have. I encourage everyone to visit this castle! Be sure to walk the grounds outside also, and follow the path down into the city. There are some pretty... More

Definitely the must visit place in Bratislava. The view is sooo nice and don't cost anything. Even Bratislava is a small city, from castle you can see what is important. Of course, as you are there, visit a castle as well. And if you get hungry, there's a good restaurant next to castle and you can eat and drink about... More

We had a quick tour stop here and got to se the outside only of the castle. Didn't get to go inside at all. However the views over the walls are amazing. And good history of the castle was given by local guide. Would recommend this if you are visiting this little town.

This castle is beautiful and we really liked this place. My recommadation is to go in historical museum. We are students and we paid 4 euros (eachother) for entrance and we were very suprised because it's so beautiful and you have to see a lot of painting, objects, texts etc. You sholud do this.
