It is hard to believe that most of the castle is actually new, and they are still building it, although the castles which have stood here all have interesting pasts. The castle is located on a hill overlooking the river Danube, the southern-most hill of the Small Carpathian Mountains. You can access it by foot from two sides - up... More

This is lots of fun, even if you aren't a fan of Dracula. Interesting story of the renovations and the views are impressive. Be sure you are ok with walking up hills and climbing narrow stairways though!

Excellent view of the city and the river. It is not such a beautiful castle by itself but it is definitely worth a visit since you can take amazing pictures from the top and relax listening to music and have coffee at the cafe overlooking the city.

The castle itself doesn't really has a lot to see as the the government is using it. But there is a place where you can stand and see the Donau and the famous Slovakian bridge.

Your best bet is to walk up - day or night - up to the castle to take pictures and take in the view of the city and the Danube. It's probably not worth going inside, from what I hear. I particularly liked it at night when you can see all the windmills in the distance lighting up. I always... More

We had a day in Bratislava and decided to have a walk to the castle. It probably wasn't the best of ideas. The temperature in the shade was 35c and in direct sun was about 42c. So by the time we walked there and then up a step hill we pretty much gave up going inside and just wanted to... More

Brilliant views of the city, quite close to the centre, lovely condition just walked around the grounds and it was all very nice. Their were toilets, cafes and souvenirstands available. These added conveniences without over commercializing the attraction

Not a castle in the sense you would normally imagine, no ramparts or arrow slits or signs of battles but worth the trek up the hill to see the castle close up and admire the views over Bratislava, we didn't actually go inside the castle so cant comment on that aspect. They are currently constructing a large garden area at... More

The majestically pronounced silhouette of this historic castle can be seen from a distance. It sits grandly perched on top of a hill, about 80 meters above the Danube river. This classic symbol of the city used to be a fortified settlement in the 9th century and the first Hungarian King Stephen I ruled his empire from here in the... More

Do yourself a favor and drive to it. It is a long walk from old town and all up hill. We didn't bother going in, but it is worth seeing up close.
