We recently visited Bratislava again and spent quite a bit of time at Hlavne Namestie, the main square in the Old Town of Bratislava. This is a nice area of the city and there are several nice attractions which can be found here. At Hlavne Namestie, there are three museums including the Period Rooms Museum, the Museum of Viticulture and... More

We visited here while the Christmas markets were open. There was an ice skating rink with many local Children, there were crafts and local food. On our Viking River Cruise this was one of our favorite stops. This area is close to the dock.

Well, when u go to Bratislava, u should know there is not many things to see. But miss the main square would be weird when u r already there. I believed it will be totally nothing there to see but when it is sunny day and u buy icecream it is nice to sit there on bench and watch around... More

This is a charming lovely stroll that runs parallel to the river. When I was visited there was a number of activities going on in the square (which is a long rectangle walk) that leads up to the opera house (I think). They had music shows on and an art exhibition on display for the public. It is lined with... More

The main square (or hlavné námestie) is one of the "must-see" places in Bratislava. Preferably go there in winter when the Christmas markets (vianočné trhy) invade the little square with the smell of hot wine and stalls with Christmassy themed goods. Good restaurants are nearby, along with other attractions such as the old city hall (Stará radnica) and many others.... More

I expected it to be a little more festive seeing that we were visiting in between Christmas and New Year, but we found just some tents with alcohol and that was it. Disappointing.

I enjoyed the Christmas market in this town square. It is a bit different than the German and Austrian ones, especially in the types of food and drink available. There was also a stage with traditional singing and dancing and that was really fun to hear. The square itself is pretty and there are tons of coffee shops in the... More

Walked here from the Twin Cities Liner from Vienna. It was very easy to find and surrounded by many large, ornate buildings. The square was covered with stalls selling gifts, ornaments and food. There was a man with a hand-turned merry-go-round. Some children looked a bit scared as he was cranking hard. One lady wanted to get her daughter off,... More

The main square itself is quite a long walk starting with National Theatre and ending with a column. It is a traditional Xmas market place! Otherwise, it is a nice entrance to the rest of the city! Don't forget to look at the statue of Hviezdoslav - one of the most famous Slovak poet. The place is at times used... More
