I enjoyed the base collection much more than the exhibitions! The exhibitions were good but if they were not there it would still be worth it! It is a mind-opening collection that took me over two hours to enjoy. Never once did I get bored! It has a nice outdoor setting, great rooftop, friendly staff, lockers, clean toilets, and a... More

This gallery is located on the river Danube in a very modern building. I personally was more fascinated by the architecture of the entire building more than the actual art. The gallery was redecorated last year and now depicts more art and statues than it did before. There is a small cafe inside where you can get something cold to... More

This is the newest major art gallery about 20 kms from Bratislava which opened about 15 years back in a peninsula jutting out in to the Danube river. The Museum derives its name from the Danube river along with the name of the Dutch collector & its sponsor Meulensteen. You can reach the place by cycle, bus, car drive or by ferry when it... We took the bus which is picked up outside the Eurovia Mall on the river. The bus is a nice ride to a camping kayaking center just down the road from the museum. I believe the boat only runs on weekends. The museum is lovely, jutting out in the water. Sculpture is scattered throughout the grounds and inside the collection... More

And enjoy the leisurely trip down the Danube. The Museum is wonderful, great architecture and great art. Lots of sculptures inside and out. And all on an almost island with plenty of views of the river from inside. The boat trip back leaves two hours after you get there, just enough time for the museum and a coffee at the... More

I love this place so much I am a member. I live on the other side of the Danube so it is approx. 70kms round trip but well worth the time and petrol. Entry prices are very reasonable and the exhibits are displayed beautifully with lots of light and space. Everybody else has mentioned the location which is stunning but... More

Interesting setting on a peninsula on Danube river but the art itself is not good compared to contemporary museums in other cities in Europe..

During our stay in Bratislava we took a taxi to the Museum, located on an island in Donau, close to the Hungarian border. This was early season so the boat tour was not operating. The location of the museum makes it isolated, no other services around. The museums cafe was closed during our visit in April. The architecture of the... More
