Typical medieval castle with a very nice view on the turn of the Danube. I visited it in December and there were two different tickets, one of which included the visit to the wax statues. I went for it and it was surely interesting to learn more about the history of the Castle but as a matter of fact the... More

I decided, much to the disappointment of my girlfriend, to reach the citadel by walking. It is a nice hike through the woods (for those who are into wood carving, there is a wonderful "Way of the Cross"), about 30 mins...it is the best way to "deserve" such a spectacular view! One may understand the importance of this fortress, not... More

We got there by car. The whole place was renewed (I was here about 15 years ago) and now you have a decent parking place, shops etc. The climbing up is not difficult, but bear in mind that there are stairs in the castle itself. The castle was used as a stronghold for the Hungarian kings and there are various... More

The castle is located high up on the hill in the forest. We drove here but many tourist bus came and some younger hiked up there.Fresh, cold air in the middle of the forest with this Romans creation, ruined by Ottomans is a memorable attraction. On the top you get a great view of the Duna, running like a snake . Nothing... More

I left from the mahart boat station, just in front of the "little Princess" statue and the Inner City parrish Church. It leaves just past Pier 10 and 11, where you can take boat trips on the Danube. I went in late September, and it was colder than any locals could remember. Near 0 C when I left. Did I... More

I'm not a city-person - I was sure of that again in the minute I got to Visegrad (from Budapest). If you want to get away from the city for a while, this is the place to visit. The view ... it's magical. Really. Castle itself is historical and I liked it - it was somewhat calm. Ticket 1400 HUF... More

Really great views from above. There are 2 ways up. The first one is a steep path through the forest starting right from the Solomon tower. I'd recommend taking this one, as it's much shorter and protected from direct sunlight. Unless it is raining or was raining the day before, as the path becomes very slippery and dirty. And do... Hmmmm, seeing the reviews here some people mistake the Visegrad Citadel (or Cloudcastle) with the Buda Citadel on the Gellert Hill in Buda ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citadella ). This attraction here is the Cloudcastle in Visegrad, north Hungary, overlooking the Danube turn, about 46km north to Budapest. I've been here many times before, we frequently came here taking a walk and enjoying... More
