For me, the actual physical castle for this is just okay. The view from it, however, is absolutely spectacular and worth the hike up. Also, Visegrad itself is rather quaint and relaxing, so that's nice. It's a decent day trip, I think. If you're in Budapest and determined to do a day trip up the Danube bend, I recommend coming... This should be one of your targets when visiting Hungary. Beyond being a nice trip, it's also a travel in time. As a bomus you'll get a beautiful sight over Danube.

I have visited several Hungarian Castles, but this one with Eger is on the very top of my favorites list. It is really well kept, and the views are amazing from the tower.

We spend some nice time in citadel on the hill. It's nice place even for families with children..in every part of the castle you find sounds effect in 3 languages. You don't need go up yourself because from the farry to the citadel goes the bus which doesn't cost much money.

We liked it all, the Citadel is decently renewed and kept in excellent shape, the self-made knights fight each other in a very entertaining fashion. There is an international knight meeting around the end of July that should be visited once.

The view of the city is spectacular from Citadel. There is a museum inside that it can be visited otherwise it is good to visit the statue and enjoy the view. Some Citytours will take you there with only ten minutes stop for pictures.

We walked up to this so be prepared its very steep. Did not use restaurants but did go in the Museum and down into the WW2 bunker which has a lot of information about this period if history.

The old castle ruins still amazing, telling you the way of living from that age. Walking up to the top is worth everything. You just want to stay there watching the Danube river slightly bending with forest all around. You should not miss the medieval show just a kilometer far, in the city. Even for big groups is a great... More

Well worth the walk and climbs just take your time - you don't want to miss this. View of the Danube was spectacular and the Citadel Ruins themselves most impressive. One of the spots I remember well of our trip through Hungary. Note my pictures which explain why you must stop here- trip was actually in May 2011
