I was amazed by the beauty of the Synagogue in Szeged. Actually there are two of them right next to each other. The surrounding small streets are green and offer nice walks in the former Jewish quarter. Also small independent bars and restaurants are in the area. A must see for those who like architecture and history.

Visited the old and new synagogues via a tour guide from the Szeged Tourism office recently (May 2015), which I highly recommend you do. Although there is plenty of information on the Internet already about these two synagogues, for 1,000 HUF (under £3) for a one hour tour with a tour guide that includes entrance fee to the new synagogue... A must see in Szeged. Imposing exterior with and stunning interior. As with many religious sites make sure you are appropriately dressed. No shorts or bare shoulders. Kippah are provided for men to cover their heads.

The Synagogue is a pice of art but its value is not used in a correct manner. The only stuff member present at the Synagogue was one of the most disinterested persons I ever met. It was like she was making us a favor by letting us enter into the building.

A lovely perfectly restored Synagogue, well worth a visit. The lady at the door was a bit of a grump, but I'm sure she was just having a bad day. That aside, the place itself is beautiful, and a reminder of the sad history of this part of the world with a long list of names of all the people... More

Visited the Synagogue in combinaiton with a musical event we attended there. A moving place to visit when one considers what happened to so very many of those who would have worshipped there before the Holocaust. Close to city center.

The first thibg that we wanted to see in Szeged was the Synagogue. And we were not disapointed. We were not able to enter the building since it was closed for some reason. Enjoyed the view from Gutenberg ut. Amazing!

Worth the visit to see this historical Jewish Synagogue which was the center of local Jewry till the war. It is also lit up beautifully at night. A wonderful lasting memory to all the Jews that lived in this city.
