We walked underneath this very impressive tower, built by locals to warn of fires by trumpet blast! Slightly spoilt during our visit by a very large pink banner advertising the upcoming music festival!

We spent several days in the Sopron area and marveled at how the bustling city has modernized and at the same time has made so many refinements to its centuries old buildings and infrastructure. We last visited Sopron in 1996 to visit my wife, Agnes', birthplace and where she and her family fled from in the 1956 revolution. Sopron is... More

Looks nice, be we wasn't able to enter the building... It was under construction I suppose, but definitely worth a visit, it is one of the oldest buildings in Sopron.

Gives a complete panorama of the city! There is a café down under meanwhile some history can be read all over inside on the walls. There are some digital informations flowing from big screens too. It is worth watching in any season of the year!

Together with my family we've liked very much the nicely recently renovated Fire Tower of Sopron. The view was magnifique from the Tower!!! Try the Coffeehouse inside the Fire Tower, it has a nice modern touch, with delicious coffee and cakes.

It is worth the effort to visit the firewatch tower for good views in all directions over Sopron. At night it is illuminated a very pretty sight.

amazing view from the top of the tower, quite a few steps though, but manageable. The entry ticket was a bit pricy, but you do not think about your pocket when you see the Ferto lake and Austria from high up.

The Fire Tower and its museum displays on various levels are certainly worth visiting if you've come to Sopron for the day (as we did whilst staying in Vienna). One doesn't need to climb too high to get over the rooftops of this Hungarian town and therefore you can see quite a distance; it makes a difference from the view... More
