The Basilica is beautiful and one of the oldest abbey in Hungary. Has an old library, tourist shop, restaurant, winery, vine tasting, herbs garden, arboretum. We were there with young children.

Being a UNESCO site I had lots of expectations, and although it is a wonderful abbey, I have seen many others in central Europe that are clearly superior. The Basilica is beautiful but currently under construction. The library, the tower and porta speciosa are the highlights in my opinion. You have access to audio guides.

Wonderfully situated with a superb view, the Abbey is a very disappointing attraction. Overpriced for what you get at 2,200 fts per person with no concessions. The abbey church itself is being cleaned and renovated and is entirely under wraps so you can see almost nothing of it (about which you are not informed at the time of buying tickets).... More

Probably the most interesting monastery in Hungary, founded in 996, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Romanesque Basilica of St Martin was heavily restored in the 19th C. The 19th C library is the highlight of the tour.

This place is renovated and absolutely clean and organized. The library is impressive, I couldn't get breath when I saw. Don't forget to buy some gift in the shops from lavender, for example air freshener, or oil. The wines from this area also excellent choices!

the description of the abbey says it is 1,000 years old but it looks all ver modern. We walked around with an audio guide which was fine, but at a certain point, I got bored and stopped listening. The setting is very beautiful and the library was really impressive, but overall, am nit sure if we would go again. It... More

This Benedictine Abbey is a UNESCO world Heritage site. If you combine the Abbey and the village it is certainly worth a a whole day visit. The audio-visual guide is self explanatory and we managed to attend the Benedictine service at 1pm. Do not miss this nor the library. Take the free train to the village and explore the small... There is so much to see and experience at the Monastery. Start with the orientation video and then take a tour of the monastery with one of the official guides, they have so much information and passion for the place. Try to get into the church to hear the Monks in prayer, a truly memorable experience. The Victor restaurant offers... More

The abbey is in a great setting dominating the countryside for km around. It is also in extensive grounds with a winery etc. It also has a very good audio guide system and as I usually don't like these, that's praise! The library is as people say impressive and the church attractive. The whole place is certainly worth a visit... More
