For me, Szimpla was a great experience but to be honest it is more a tourist place and I did not have the feeling of a local place. It is amazing to see it, walk around and have a drink or two but soon I noticed that many people just come and take pictures instead of admiring the place by... More

We were desirous of visiting a ruin pub while recently in Budapest, and this one seems to be the granddaddy of the genre. The kitsch is marvelous, as is the vibe. There was a farmers market going on in the courtyard the day we visited. Had a couple of beers and talked to others who were also enjoying the place,... More

I don't normally review pubs, but then this is no normal pub. It is in a fairly seedy part of Budapest, and the entrance is easily missed. To get in, you have to push past a couple of industrial door blinds, but it is worth it. It is easily the biggest pub I have ever been in. It extends over... More

Really love this place and it's chilled out nature. Probably the most popular ruin pub in Budapest but even on the busier nights, there's no problem walking right in and finding a spot to sit down or chill out as the place is quite big. Great vibe throughout the pub, decent music and not too loud and really interesting decor... More

If you are looking for the full experience of a Ruin Pub while in Budapest, you should probably swing by here. There were a couple other of bars I personally enjoyed more, but the ruin pubs are definitely worth seeing. The are a few types of different bars in the pub, so there is something to offer everyone. If you... More

Just moved to Budapest and stumbled upon this beast of a bar. So many little secret rooms and furnishings it's never a bore. Despite that there are also some quieter rooms where you can set up your laptop and get to work - not to mention in the mornings they have a farmers market! Really top notch place decent cheap... This bar is fantastic, the only way I can describe it is that it felt like a group of artists exploded inside an empty warehouse. Booze, water pipes & carrots (yes carrots) in an eccentric expansive buzzing atmosphere.

For those who don't know what a Ruin bar is, the best way to understand the concept is to come here. The place was crowded but we were still able to find a place to seat and have some Sheesha. The place was very trendy and had a nice vibe. People were nice and everyone is having fun and observing... More
