We went on two walking tours with Brigit .... both were great.

So interesting to hear the history, from a local. Interspersed with personal tales, brings the history to life.

We walked, with lots of stops .... there is sooo much to see !
On the tour of the Jewish Quarter, we even stopped at a bakery to sample a traditional Jewish treat !

"Curious Miles" is one of those rare tour operators that completely moves away from the typical "cookie cutter" tours, you see in every Budapest guide book. Instead, you will be taken on unique adventures, "behind the scenes", where you will be introduced to a banquet of experiences that few are fortunate enough to get access to. From the time you make contact with "Curious Miles", you will be taken care of by the knowledgeable, professional and dedicated owner of the company, Brigitta, whose objective it is to ensure that each tour is either tailored to meet the multiple needs and interests of a group, or is completely personalized for those who desire a bespoke experience. "Curious Miles" offers a variety of fascinating tours that cover a full range of opportunities to get to know Budapest in a very intimate way, as well as its' surrounding areas. Tours include exposure to the extraordinary Art Nouveau Architecture of Budapest, or introduce you to the legendary locals who have historically defined this city, as well as tours that will guide you through the complex, tragic and fascinating Jewish Heritage of Budapest. In order to experience all that "Curious Miles" has to offer, you will have to promise yourself a return visit to this magnificent city of Budapest. As the owner of a bespoke travel consultancy in the USA, I have gone to great lengths to both familiarize myself with and personally experience the tours offered by a variety of tour operators. I have great confidence placing my discerning clients in the hand of "Curious Miles" and I look forward to an ongoing, exciting and creative collaboration with this innovative and dynamic company. I spent a few days in Budapest with my friends and we chose to do an original city tour with Curious Miles. We didn't want to just sit in a sightseeing tour bus and listen to some recorded comments, so we met Brigitte from Curious Miles in the city, near Margit Bridge and we started an amazing walking tour. First we went to the St Stephen's Basilica, where the surrounding streets are filled with cafés and restaurants, then we ate a delicious hand-made ice cream at Gelarto Rosa before going to the flee market in the Gozsdu Udvar and the ruin bars area around Kazinczy street. Finally, we walked past the Opera on Andrassy Avenue and rode the Millenium Underground Railway. During the entire walk, Brigitte explained us many details of the history of Budapest. As we were interested in Liszt, she told us about his life. We were surprised to learn that he spent a few years in Switzerland! Brigitte knows a very wide range of interesting anecdotes about various subjects (culture, traditional food, symbols, religion, music, history). We learned so many things! What was very nice was to walk through the streets, following and listening to our guide, without reading a city plan :-) She brought us to places where (we know for sure) we would never had been without her! We keep a fantastic memory of this city tour, which we highly recommend to people, who like walking through cities just to be amazed! We can't wait to go back to Budapest and choose another walking tour, because Brigitte proposes many different tours with various original themes (music, wine tasting, tours for kids, etc). Enjoy your next trip to Budapest!

This small, but well formed walking tour company has it all. Local knowledge is at a premium but unlike the standard tours they run very interesting walks- e.g a tour of Art Nouveau architecture. Their enthusiasm and unrivalled knowledge is second to none. Next time you walk some miles in Budapest, make sure they are Curious Miles.

I was lucky enough to take part in a custom-made tour with Curious Miles, that covered not only this beautiful and diverse city's most stunning sights but also gave insightful knowledge of its exciting history, culture and its - famous and infamous - people and topped it off with a lot of fascinating, behind-the-scenes facts. Also sampled local delicacies along the way and got a chance to experience the unique vibe of retro Budapest with its pop-up antique markets and hidden ruinpubs. Brigitta is an attentive and extremely knowledgeable guide, who was kind enough to personalise our tour for us, so we can make the most of our time in Budapest. To get to know this special city, look no further than this special tour company! Can only highly recommend!

I went to Budapest with my family and I was initially not sure of taking a walking tour as my daughters do not particularly enjoy walking. I also wanted the tour to be off the beaten track as we had covered the top sites separately. Our tour guide - Brigitta - solved both the problems by (a) coming up with a treasure hunt along the walk that kept my daughters fully engaged and (b) taking us through the inner alley ways on the 'Pest' side and even taking us inside a typical communist era apartment block to show how people had lived during those 4 decades of communism. I would highly recommend a walking tour with Brigitta if you want to see any specific sights of Budapest as she is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the city!

We got a very nice and personal tour in Budapest with Krisztina who is really passionate about her city and can talk hours about its history and share some of hers too. We all loved the tour and also enjoyed tasting a bit of spicy sausage and langos as "street food" and also that special treat at the end of the tour !
Contact Brigitta or Krisztina if you want to view Budapest from a different perspective to the typical tourist tour as we did and enjoy a walk with a friend.
Thank you again Krisztina !

Really enjoyable and relaxing walking tour hosted by our tour guide Brigitta who is passionate about this city and its history.Differs from standard organised tours as they guide you off the beaten track to find places that are the real hidden gems of the city. Apart from Brigitta's in depth knowledge of the history she gave us a great insight into the culture, food and how Budapest operates as a modern city. Highly recommend taking this tour if you are in Budapest.

My husband and I fortunately connected with Brigitta of Curious Miles in Budapest! We wanted to visit all of the Jewish historical sites of Budapest and booked 3 tours on 3 different days with Brigitta. When I looked at Brigitta's list of possible tours, I wanted to do all of them! As we were to be in Budapest during Jewish holidays, Brigitta planned our tours when the synagogues, the Jewish Museum and the Holocaust Memorial Park would be open. We visited a medieval synagogue in the Castle District, a partially excavated synagogue in a once thriving Jewish neighborhood. Brigitta arranged for us to attend on a Jewish holiday a service at a small, hidden Orthodox shul where we joined other worshippers and children for lunch in the sukkah. On a visit to a park near Raoul Wallenberg Street, Brigitta also showed us some Art Nouveau and Bauhaus style architecture in buildings we would never have seen on our own. We shared typical Hungarian pastry and tea at a tiny cafe, sampled salami, bread and cheese in the Old Jewish Town market, and rode the public tram without worrying about how to pay or where to get on and off! Brigitta's knowledge of the history, architecture and culture of Budapest was impressive. In her quiet way, she guided us through at least 4 different areas of the city but we didn't feel exhausted at the end of each tour. We felt as if we had a friend in Budapest who was looking out for our safety (we are seniors!) and well-being. By e-mail in advance, Brigitta even recommended concerts that we might enjoy. She selected well and thanks to her my husband and I enjoyed a great jazz performance at The Liszt Academy one evening. Budapest came alive because of Brigitta's thoughtful guidance. Hiring Brigitta of Curious Miles was the smartest thing we did to prepare for our visit to Budapest! She made our trip a relaxing, deeply educating, rewarding and unforgettable adventure.

Curious Miles is one of those all too rare travel experiences that completely exceeds your expectations - and our expectations were high! My wife and I visited Budapest with a group and all but a few days were pre-planned with the typical tourist fare. In the time we had to ourselves we were hopeful of getting away from the tourist sites and getting a real feel for this amazing city.

Although the Curious Miles website offers a number of interesting excursions, I emailed Brigitta with a fairly long list of things we wanted to experience. Her response was prompt, and she quickly tailored a comprehensive walk around the city just for us - in fact, I was so impressed, we quickly decided to add a second day of touring. I will also stress that the cost was more than reasonable - far less than you would pay with one of the larger tour companies.

We asked for "off the beaten path" and wow, did Brigitta deliver. From a tiny cafe you wouldn't even know was there to a coffee shop in the basement of a row house where a wizard worked his magic in the tiny kitchen, every stop was tailor-made for what we wanted.

In all the hours we spent together, it honestly felt like we were being shown the town by a true and trusted friend - and you know what, we were!

I cannot recommend Curious Miles more strongly. You will love the beautiful city of Budapest, and you will love it even more with Brigitta by your side.
