I decided to do the Siklo as those little carriages looked oh so cutesy. Plus my partner is disabled, so it represented one of the few chances for her to easily get up high in Budapest. This attraction is proably worth a look. It's as good a way as any to start exploring Buda if you're staying on the Pest side of the city (Pest is where the Parliament Building is). I walked up and down the hill, and took the funicular each way too. Both are good. The walk was more rewarding but the funicular is easier. Under 3 quid to go either way is not expensive. more

It cost HUF 1400 (May 2009) for a return ticket and for your money you get the view/photo opportunity, save your legs from walking up the hill plus its something different. I was so disappointed to get to Budapest and find this closed. I did not find this information available anywhere on the web ahead of time. Take the 16 bus across the street from the funicular near the tunnel entrance if you do not want to walk up the hill. It looked great though! more
This funicular is old and quaint, and you get great views of Pest. A must see when visiting Budapest. more
Why walk up Castle Hill when you can catch the tram! The funicular is directly in front of the Chain Bridge and was originally built in 1870 to transport workers up to the Castle disrict. This is a definite must-do in Budapest! The views are spectacular, I think it's reasonably priced. Though we did have to queue for roughly 20 minutes but it was well worth it! Don't forget to take your camera! more
