The Gellert complex is very nice to see, but it is a bit out-dated now. There are no clear signs / information on how the system works, which is frustrating if you don't speak Hungarian. Baths are nice and warm, sauna and steam room are provided. Outside there is a place to sit in the sun. Give the personal an... more

Gellert baths was presented in several of our guide books as a must see experience. Whilst the hotel is lovely and the building quite impressive, my friend and I found it a frustrating experience and for myself somewhat humiliating. It was confusing when we arrived in terms of where to go and change and the staff were very unhelpful if... more

After reading reviews on the trip advisor and other forums, almost did no make it to the Gellert baths which would have been unfortunate because it turned out to be a great experience! We took a metered taxi from the marriott where we stayed. The Marriott taxi was going to charge us 2500 Forinths (which by the way, the charge... more

The reason I am rating my overall experience as above average, is mainly because I had expected everyone to be quite grumpy and unfriendly. In fact I found th opposite to be true. The baths are lovely, after 2 long days of walking Everywhere in Budapest my legs and my back were so tired- and a visit to the baths... more

We recently went for a four day break to Budapest and spent an afternoon in the Gellert baths. It was a lovely experience but incredibly confusing, our guide books told us you could hire towels so we didnt take any - when we got there they issued us with what looked like bed sheets!!!! it took a lot of hassle... more

On this site you might have read of our visit to the Rudas Baths (our first 'baths' visit) – my wife and I being on an early December few days in Budapest. Later in the trip – feeling more experienced about the whole business – we decided to go to the Gellert Bath complex. We chose the Rudas because of... more

Rude, disorganised, and dirty were my first impressions and it got worse from there. Nice to see but I wouldn't use the actual baths or pay to get in. Maybe if I could speak the local lingo the staff wouldn't have been rude or inefficient but it wouldn't change the cleanliness. Best advice is to stay away. more

This bath is totally overrated. Its kinda nice, but not nearly as nice as one would expect from all the hype and the hefty price tag to get in. After getting in and asking numerous employees about getting a towel, no one would help, and were downright mean. Eventually soaking wet I left to the front desk only to get... more

I had a great time at the Gellert Baths but I think anyone expecting an American spa will be disappointed. Every guidebook told me that the Budapest bathing experience would involve difficulties with language and culture. I thought the Gellert Baths, since they're part of a big hotel, would be different. WRONG! The woman handling the entrance fee spoke no... more
