We went to the Gellert baths last week and loved the experience. The whole place is beautiful and the bathing experience is very relaxing. The prices are very fair and any language related confusion is to be expected, Ignore the naysayers. more
we visited the baths Feb 2009. we paid for a joint changing cubicle and left our belongings in the locked cubicle, to which the attendant had the key. we returned to our locker within minutes of leaving it, as we did not have the correct towel tickets, only to find the attendant in our locker checking out the pocket of... more
This was our one and only bath experience in Budapest, so I cannot compare to others, but it was recommended by a Hungarian friend. We enjoyed it tremendously - we went on a Monday morning around 6am and it seemed that the majority of bathers were locals, with a few tourists strewn in. The locker rooms were clean, as were... more
I visited the Gellert Baths in August 2008 during my week-long stay in Budapest, and loved every minute of each of my visits. When I first walked into the entrance hall I was impressed by its grandeur, and vast space, it has beautiful tiled floors, marble columns and potted palms, it’s like being taken back in time to the turn... more
We had a great time at the Gellert baths ......it was confusing but this only added to the experience. Tried the Gellert and Kiraly and preferred the Gellert by a long way. I agree with those who said it was a bit of a maze, but I managed to find my way around. It seemed clean and the two thermal baths (one at 36 degrees and one at 38) were very relaxing. I enjoyed the Gellert very much. Would... more
The Gellert complex is very nice to see, but it is a bit out-dated now. There are no clear signs / information on how the system works, which is frustrating if you don't speak Hungarian. Baths are nice and warm, sauna and steam room are provided. Outside there is a place to sit in the sun. Give the personal an... more
Gellert baths was presented in several of our guide books as a must see experience. Whilst the hotel is lovely and the building quite impressive, my friend and I found it a frustrating experience and for myself somewhat humiliating. It was confusing when we arrived in terms of where to go and change and the staff were very unhelpful if... more
After reading reviews on the trip advisor and other forums, almost did no make it to the Gellert baths which would have been unfortunate because it turned out to be a great experience! We took a metered taxi from the marriott where we stayed. The Marriott taxi was going to charge us 2500 Forinths (which by the way, the charge... more
