We really enjoyed the baths. Don't be intimidated by the hub bub when entering. They are very friendly and relaxed. Pay for everything you want as you enter, such as a towel. Few of the others baths are co-ed so this one is very nice. It is easy to get to on the Metro and near City Park. We particularly... more

I'd read about Budapest baths and was not sure what to expect. This one was recommended (and also in the books) so we went one summer evening when the heat of the day had died down and enjoyed it much (Jun08). The best way I can describe it that it is like a Las Vegas style outdoor pool (big, multi-faceted)... more

Everyone who visits Budapest has to go to one of the baths, and this one seemed to fill the requirement very well. Its quite expensive compared with everything else to do in Budapest but well worth it. As others have said good idea to look at the map on the way in. It seemed to be a complete maze to... more

Szechenyi is just one of a number of thermal spa baths in Budapest. Each has its own character and some do not allow men and women to bathe at the same time. We selected Szechenyi because it was recommended to us, because it allows mixed bathing, and because it is unusual in having outdoor hot thermal pools. With the April... more

these baths were recommended to me by an irish person living in budapest. I was expecting something clean, relaxing and "different", and altho the outdoor baths here were clean, it was more like an outdoor heated swimming pool with a whirlpool in the middle!... nothing special. The indoor baths were crowded and filthy, there was grit and dirt floating around... more

We were there on a sunny but cold (20's) day in Feb. As others have pointed out, there are few signs in English. Make sure you familiarize yourself w/ the large map in the lobby before going downstairs as it is in English. You can buy a day pass and if you leave before a certain time you get money... more

What a place! Amazing - not to be missed. We got on the underground and asked someone at the station where we should get off. It's only a short walk to the entrance to the Baths from the Metro station (through the park and around the building). Ticket desk on your right. We bought tickets and asked for 'cabins' which... more

I have been to the Szechenyi Baths multiple times on previous trips to Budapest. It is currently partly under refurbishment, i.e. some of the 16 pools (apparently the biggest thermal bath complex in Europe) are closed at the moment. However, you can still take advantage of the beautiful and relaxing outdoor pools and the many smaller indoor medicinal pools of... more

Had best time ever at the spa yesterday afternoon, cost about £15 (5200ft) for 2 of us to share a cabin and we stayed for 4 hours. Would have been longer if we hadn't had to get to the airport. Managed to hire towels too for less than a pound each (300ft) with a 1000ft deposit per towel. Flip flops... more

I visited these baths over 2 days in August, mainly for the outdoor swimming pools, which were great. Even though it was quite crowded, it was a very relaxing place to be, and the whirlpool pool was fun. There was quite a queue to get in, but it moved fairly quickly. The deckchairs cost only HUF500 to rent for a... more
