You can catch a local service bus to the bottom of the hill then its only about a 15 minute stroll up to the top.Once you are at the top you get some of the best panoramic views over the city.It can get quite busy up at the top because all the tour busses call there, still not to be missed.

On the Gellért hill, face to the city, wonderful panoramic view to the surrounding area. Easy walk if you are by car, from the city is more difficult, but it worth. Good information boards about the fortress's history. If you are in Bp, do not miss it.

You can either take the bus to visit the Citadella or you can take the sightseeing bus or you can take it by foot on the stairs that are right at the base of the hill and lead right up to the top. In my oppinion it's nicer by foot, you can discover the view from many different angles and... More

Walking up to the citadel is a very pretty way to exercise. One can choose stairs or sloping paths and one is surrounded by trees and gardens. At the top one has a brilliant view over Budapest. Buses take tourist up, but the walk is worth it!!!!

Executive summary Pros - Breathtaking views of Budapest, great reward for making it uphill, its free and open for public. Cons - none except this experience hinges on the weather of the day, I got lucky that it was sunny and clear. Top tip - If it is really hot and/or you don't want to climb the whole way up,... More

Breathtaking views and so much history. This place is a must for any traveler to Budapest. If you are not up to walking uphill, take a taxi or a tour that includes it.

You gone have best view of the city from here. In the place there is a restaurant with the best view of Budapest but I didn’t dine there so I can’t say anything about the kitchen but the prices are very tourist orientated

The citadella wasn't very easy to get to and on a hot day like today, it was quite a trek. However, it was worth every step you had to climb. And for those unable to make this uphill climb, there's always the hop on, hop off bus or tours that take you there by bus. Great vantage point of Buda... More

Our Guide gave us a history brief about the Citadella, unfortunately we were not able to visit it because it is now occupied by a security government body. Anyway, it didn't look much impressive from the outside; the view from the Castle Hill provided us with a better position to view the Buda and Pest magnificent locations.
