Went to a performance of "The Karamazovs" in November 2009, which was a ballet. Now Ballet really isnt our thing, which is why we left at the half time interval, but the real reason for attending was to get a look at the building, which was lovely, whilst having an hour's rest after trudging the streets of Budapest all day!... more

We did not see a show, but went on a 45 minute tour of this beautiful historic building. Tthere 2 tours each afternoon in about 5 or 6 different languages--you go to the sign for your language. The guides are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You see the theater, stage, Emperor's box and changing room, etc. Interesting and enlightning tour. more

It can be cheaper to buy tickets for a performance, than to pay for the guided tour. My wife and i paid 1200 Huf (approx £4) each, and had centre seats in the front row of the balcony, and saw an excellent performance of " The Barber of Seville" One of the highlights of our visit to Budapest. It is... more

I was there in June 2009. My friend and I attended a Aida performance and the Romeo and Juliet Ballet. For the Ballet we sat in the grand circle balcony in the yellow zone second row. Our tickets were £3 each. The view was uninterrupted and the cost was an exceptional deal. Just as a warning for those that are... more

The opera house is not only a lovely building and interior, but its performances are very reasonable. Seats start from 400 HUF (roughly £1.30), altho these seats have a very restricted view. We paid 1200 Huf (about £4 each) for seats at the back of the balcony with a good central view and the opera was lovely. Definitely worth doing... more

The standard (English) tour of the Opera House was my biggest disappointment in Budapest...and it's still getting a "Very Good" rating. There's nothing really wrong with the tour; I just didn't find it worthwhile in and of itself. So, if I had the opera house to do over, I'd either: 1. Walk into the lobby and absorb the interior from... more

I would really recommend going to see an Opera whilst in Budapest. It is a great way to spend an evening and the building inside is beautiful. I have never seen an opera before but it was fantastic. I read in other reviews that you can get tickets from £1 & at the time I booked on-line they were from... more

I've just been to Budapest and it is a very nice city. A very nice local law student, Ucey showed me quite a lot of the attractions of the city and this one was one of them. We were able to sneak into the building and see the interior. I recommend everyone to write him -- to get signed up... more

Visited the Opera House in March 2009. We had no problem in obtaining the seats next to the Royal Box.We have paid £80 for two tickets from the Box Office. The quality of performance was fantastic. From the orchestra to the singers to the set. The building is magnificent. Highly recommended. more
