This is such a nice relaxing stroll to take. It is from the Chain bridge all the way down to the Elizabeth bridge. There hotels, several outdoor cafes and restaurants along the way. My favorite parts were the statues (artist, Little Princess, girl playing with a dog, Shakespeare, etc.) and the amazing view of Castle Hill. There are benches along... More

So, aside from a really bizarre sculpture of a head and hand, some nice hotels and many cafes and, of course, the Parliament, what really is extra-special about this stretch? Other than this is where the river cruise vessels dock and where tourists get from point A to point B. Big ho-hum. Still, this is Budapest and everything is exciting... More

From the stone bridge to the white one, there is a large pedestrian way on the Pest side that allows great views on the Var (castle hill), Varkert (new mall and renovated garden)and Gellert hill. You will pass along the Intercontinental hotel and the Marriott which has a nice terrace and great brunch on Sundays.

The place where locals and tourists go. Cafes, restaurants in abundance. Great people watching area on the riverfront. Lots of different activities from music, enjoying the views, picture taking or just strolling. Outdoor vendors too. A focal gathering point on the Danube River.

Everyone takes their picture with this guy. And I was no exception. The statute sits along the water on the "Pest" on the promenade. This guy sits near restaurants and shops and near tram rail. Located near all the action!

After spending two weeks in Europe, we spent our last night walking this promenade in Budapest. I give it an "excellent" rating because we went in the evening as the sun was going down and as all of the buildings were being lit up. It really is such a gorgeous sight at night. For us, it was the perfect way... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
