Like the inside of the church. Went with a private guide and was extremely valuable as I was able to learn more about this history. Walking through on your own, would also be cool, but not as good.

We saw all of the tourist attractions at the hill, of course including this one. It is a nice church on the outside, we never went inside of it, so can't say anything about that. Nice view from the bastion just outside of the church.

You can't miss this if you are headed up to the castle hill. Beautiful both inside and out. Very different church.

Well worth a visit. Not really up there with the architectural greats but nice. Don't forget to go up the steps to the museum and look over the balcony to the church.

One of the top attractions in Budapest is St. Matthias Church (Matyas Templom), found upon Castle Hill in the Buda side of the Danube River. This is a historically important and beautiful church, which has undergone significant restoration in recent years. There is an entry fee (1200ft per adult) which we find reasonable for visit to St. Matthias Church. The... More

As part of our day out at Castle Hill we visited the Matthias church. It wasn’t part of our itinerary but since the Church is smack in the middle of all the other sites we thought we should give it a go. The architecture and artifacts make it worth seeing, though it is not as impressive as the Basilica in... More

The Gothic exterior is more recent, but it is still a lovely church. Roof is interesting. Check out the rooster, the moon and sun and raven above you (be nice to play with a child - find the raven Find the sun! -not that they're hidden, but they are way up there). We did not spend much time here because... More

Absolutely amazing visit. The church is beautiful on the inside and the outside. Very colourful! One of the most beautiful churches I have seen. Also, the view of the city is stunning.

We love the churches & Cathedrals in Europe, and rarely pass up an opportunity to visit the interior. We find that each one is unique and so very beautiful, each one different than the rest. Matthias Church in the Castle District of Budapest is no exception. It has wonderful, exceptionally vibrant color and contrast in it's pillars of blue and... More
