While it's a bit of a climb (although there is a funicular or you can take a bus), the castle hill offers incredible views of the city itself and of the Danube as it flows off into the distance in the east.

The place is quite OK but much less impressive than similar sites, such as the Hradjin in Prague. If you are in Budapest anyway, definitely worth a visit.

This castle is nicely restored. I visited its Muesums, you can easily spend 1 whole day at this place. It has several muesums and galleries put together. I was there when they had a chocolate fair, so i paid quite a figure on this visit. I don't know the regular rate. Recommend to visit if you are in Budapest

The Castle is in Buda and affords spectacular views across the river into Pest The walk up is strenuous so take your time, it's worth it. There is an elevator that will take you up if this is needed Enjoy a refreshing drink overlooking the City at the tower to the West of the church in the Square at the... More

Take the funicular, take your time to walk around the Castle District. It is a gem hidden away from downtown Budapest. I left this attraction for last to savour in the whole experience. It was a good decision! Shops are quite touristic but the St.Matthias Church and behind in, from where you can see stunning views of Budapest makes it... More

The best thing about Castle Hill is the views of Pest. Stunning! Unfortunately, it's also very crowded with tourists. The #16 bus from Pest is the best way to get there as if leaves you off at major drop off points in the Castle Section. The buses, however can be very crowded.

If you want to take lovely photos of Budapest, visit Castle Hill. In addition to the views you can also visit the wonderful Matthias Church - stunning - and see some of the other sites up there. It can get busy so try to go fairly early to avoid some of the many tour groups.
