Since we visited Budapest in December, there was no real reason to visit Margaret Island. I would recommend it on summer days, for long walks and a picnic. Great also for families.

The Margaret Island is big enough for long walks, or for jogging around on the running track. In summer time the island is relatively cool, there is an excellent swim and waterpark (Palatines) in the middle of the island. Easy to reach by walk (can be a little bit far som some), by bus or city-bicycle. No private cars are... More

We wandered around here one afternoon. Would love something like this where I live, they have running tracks that tell you how far you have gone. Was good to see loads of people using it. Nice place for a wander.

Located in the middle of the Danube this island is connected to Budapest by the Yellow Bridge or Margaret Bridge. It's named after Margaret, the Hungarian princess, who lived here as a nun in... Visited Margaret Island in January on a pleasant day. It was a pleasant walk however many of the amenities were shut due to the winter season. Was very popular for runners and a had brilliant marked five km running trail around the island. Would recommend any tourists in training for races to bring their trainers! Park a quiet oasis for... Staying in Margaret Island

Neighborhood Profile
Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.
