I took the tram from the Intercontinental hotel, a short. inexpensive journey, and arrived by the bridge which leads onto the island. I had asked if there were places to eat on the island and was told there were, but this was a no-go option. The weather was fine but I couldn't find anywhere decent to have lunch. It was... More

We made our way to Margaret Island on bike. It was probably the best way to see the place. I kept remarking to my partner that it must be a great get away from the hustle and bustle of a capital city. We spent over 2 hours on the island. It was the highlight of our day spent going around... More

This well-kept park is used for a number of events - such as pop concerts. There are sports facilities, running track, fairground rides, follies and a spa hotel here too. There is an excellent open-air swimming complex (Palatinus Strand/Furdo) - this is good, with huge pools, a wave pool, nude sunbathing areas (M/F separate) and all very cheap. The place... More

It is worthy of a visit but to be honest there's not a lot there. If you have children then the numerous swimming pools and the zoo would be quite a draw, but for a couple of 40 somethings we found it a little bland. The walk along the Danube was peaceful and pleasant enough and the gardens were very... More

This seems to be the Budapest runners' circuit of choice. Some interesting and very old churches to see towards the Northern end. Calm and peaceful.

I have written about this island in my review of the "Hop on, Hop off" city tour. For the life of me I cannot imagine why anyone can or could rate this attraction as anything less than very good to excellent. What was going on there that out of 898 reviews there are 40 reviews rated as below average? I... More

Catch the public BKK boat and get off at the island, turn right and head to the Japanese garden before walking back through lush greenery. See the locals havibg a picnic or playing football. Look for the beautiful St Michaels church and when tired of walking jump on the bus back to Margaret s bridge. A great relaxing way to... More

What a great place for a leisurely stroll in fresh air after the buzz of the city. Take a cruise on Danube, get off on Margaret island, rent a bike and check out romantic walkways, medieval ruins, a small zoo, musical fountain, etc...you won't be disappointed. Devote 2-3 hours to explore and enjoy the serenity on Margaret Island!

We stumbled on this using one of the hop off stops on the boat trip (giraffe hop on hop off bus tour) and after working out how to get through to the main part ended up spending most of the afternoon there - you can also get there by bus or walk as there is a bridge. You can hire... More

We visited here by chance due to a boat tour. It's very small with beautiful gardens and surroundings. There was a part we walked into where locals gave us very dirty looks but noone offered insight as to why, or if we should be in that part- there were opera singers but we wernt sure if this was an open...
