A visit to Budapest will not be complete, in my opinion, without a visit here. We stay on the island in the spa hotel. However it is worth a day visit. You can rent a two person pedal bike or just walk or jog. There are some lovely ruins to climb around and remarkable history to learn. Of course the... More

The Margaret island is a peaceful place at the middle of the Duna. The access to the island is very easy (by tram or bus) and it is abundant with lawn-parks and ice cream stands. Highly recommended!

While crossing the Charles bridge we entered onto the Margret Island! What a huge surprise. It was beautiful. To fully experience the Islands we rented a tandem bike and were able to ride around the whole island! Its about a mile long (give or take) There are bathing pools, fountains, athletic fields, flower gardens, out door theatres, a zoo (?we... More

Margaret Island is a must visit in Budapest. My partner and I hired a pedal car for an hour which was reasonably priced and lots of fun, and then walked round the rest of the island. It's very picturesque and there are lots of things to see and visit. The fountain display was brilliant, very impressive! Definitely give yourself time... More

We had decided to visit the island on our last afternoon for a bike ride and chill out. It was relaxed, tranquil, no major attractions, the odd ruin dated from C15th when Margaret was in the nunnery on the island. Around 5.00 we found ourselves at the water fountains, which then erupted into synchronised dance to three well known songs.... More

As we were travelling with children, Margaret island was recommended to us. We enjoyed riding round on the Bringohinto bikes (there was a small charge), however some of the island was closed for repairs. There was a very nice playground which my girls really enjoyed. It is definitely worth a visit

Beautiful island in the middle of Budapest. Easy to access by bus or ferry. We loved outdoor swimming at Platinus sands. Everything from wave pool, slides, children's pools to thermal baths. Also enjoyed the 4 person cycles to hire. Great restaurant at the theatre.

Margaret Island is a lovely chilled escape from the city but it's highlight was the fountain working in time with music. We could have watched it all day. We hired a pedal car for an hour at 10€, our kids loved it but we were a bit nervous of the lack of steering. We discovered the island water park Platinus,... More

This island is situated in the middle of the Danube, we enjoyed looking at it from the high spots, made for nice photos of Budapest, the Danube & middle island but for us the actual island did not have that much of a draw. It seems VERY popular for the locals as a place to run, jog, cycle, swim, etc.... More

Lovely little island that I accessed after a ferry ride down the Danube. A park setting that was a quiet break from the lovely city.
