We were in Budapest and we thought a segway tour would be fun...

IT WAS A BLAST!

Our guide Balint was both talented and patient when showing us how to operate the segways. He was also very knowledgeable about they city!

Once we got used to them, they were so fun. We plan on doing it in every city we visit!

We are a family of four who joined the Yellow Zebra bikes during Christmas holidays. Our guide was Balint and he was a good tour guide. The ride was fun and the lunch meals /beverage were good. It would be a great help if the company can distribute some brochures so we are more aware of what locations we have visited. We enjoyed this bike activity.

On our first day in Budapest we decided to do the 2 hour Segway tour to get our bearings around the city and we are so glad we did!. KINGA our guide was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable and made our tour fun, while still looking after our safety.
There is 20 mins practice before setting off so you can get a feel for the segways, then the tour starts gradually and at a comfortable pace advancing as you get more settled on them. Also plenty of comfort breaks and photo opportunities.

Highly recommend that everyone does this it made our holiday !! Thank you

A well organised tour with a practice session in a nearby street to give us the feel of the segways before the real action got underway. The local guide was friendly, knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The whole tour was either on back streets, footpaths or cycle lanes, albeit some of these lanes run right next to some pretty heavy traffic at some points. Overall a great experience.

My friend and I had booked online before our holiday to go on the Segway tour. Arrived fine and had a practice for half an hour. We found it strange at first but had got the hang of it. We both were practising, however my friend got into a corner. The tour guide told her she had to get off and in front of the whole group was told she couldn't go on the tour. This was very strange as she'd just been practising fine when the guide had been tending to others in the group. It was very embarrassing and upsetting. No refund was given. So be warned you can get refused to go on the tour. We were offered bikes, however this was not what we paid for.

Dear Sophie, Thank you for getting back to us and sharing your opinion even though you did not have a positive Segway experience. We would like to express our apologies regarding your Segway tour, we did not have any intention to upset you. Our guide paid special attention to your training as you clearly stated you were afraid of Segways. After the training procedure when the tour was just about to start you lost your balance and got scared of the Segway again. As it didn't seem that you were comfortable, our guide and our manager offered the possibility to do the tour by bike instead of the Segway as we always consider our guest's safety first. You explained that you did not want to take the bike, so we also offered the possibility to join our next tour in the evening so you could have another training session and you would not have missed the tour. After you refused both options we asked to come into our office, but as you walked away directly after parking the Segways we did not even have the chance to offer you a refund or take any other action. As you did not take the full tour, we have already been in contact with you and the company you booked with so you have been fully refunded. We always try to satisfy our customers and again we apologize that you did not take part in a tour with us. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Budapest nonetheless!

The best way to see the city! Having never used a segway before we found the 'training' helpful in gaining confidence. Robert our guide was incredibly patient, knowledgable and accommodating. Loved the experience and would definitely recommend.

Thank you. It is always a pleasure to hear such positive first experience with Segways, especially if they involve our guides.

We booked onto the segway tour as we thought we would see a lot more of Budapest this way then being on two feet. As we have travelled on segways before we thought we'd have lots of fun, and be able to see Budapest. However, the tour guide was a huge let down.

There were two incidents which stood out during the two and a half hour tour. One was that during one trip through the Christmas market, one of the other members of our tour fell off his Segway and our tour guide didn't realise until members of the public alerted him. As we were in a busy market place this could be understandable however as an experienced tour guide you would think he would have noticed that a member of his group had injured themselves. He did eventually come back to help that person up, but by then the damage was done.

Later on as we were crossing a busy road, another member of the tour had a problem with her Segway, which caused it to shut down. He had told us about this and had said to dismount the Segway and hold on to it. However as we were halfway across the road at the time assistance should have been available. When I saw this happen I tried to quickly turn around to help her and nearly fell off my own Segway. We managed to get the Segway next to the curb but couldn't pull it up as the wheels had locked. By this point the traffic had started up again, so I couldn't cross the road to try and tell the guide what had happened. My friend in front of me, meanwhile had seen what had happened and was trying to chase down the tour guide to tell him to go back. By that point he was about 300 yards up the next road. He'd carried on on his bike completely oblivious to what had happened behind him. As we were on a busy road at the time, this was totally unacceptable. We could have been in a dangerous situation and the tour guide would not have been able to get back to us quickly enough.

I have been on a segway tour with another company in another city and not once did I feel unsafe. On this tour I felt that the tour guide was in his own world and didn't seem to be paying attention to where we were behind him. There were times when I was at the back of the group and couldn't even see him. There were other times when we had to wait on one side of the road (as we couldn't cross due to a red light) and he had disappeared on the other side!! I've never felt so unsafe as part of a group, and seeing as there were only six of us it shouldn't have been that hard to keep checking that we were all together and following behind him.

Although I enjoyed seeing all the sights of Budapest, I would never want to go on a tour with this company again as I would like to feel that the tour guide was at least aware of what I and others around me were doing.

On an unrelated note, I would also recommend trying to find a way to let us take photos of the sights. We were only able to get off the segways at two points in the tour, and I would have loved being able to take photos of the different sights.

Dear Lily, First of all, thank you for taking the time and leaving us a detailed feedback on our Segway tour, it is highly appreciated. We were surprised to hear about the incident which happened on your tour, as we pride ourselves for being a company with fully trained, licensed guides with high safety standards. All our guides are well trained and take guests' safety as the first and most important thing during a tour, and we will make sure this will not happen again in the future. We do hope you enjoyed your stay in Budapest nonetheless and you will have a chance to return to Hungary in the future as well.

We booked this Segway Tour online before arriving in Budapest having been on previous tours in Prague as well as Nice and Berlin (with other companies). Booking was very easy and directions to the meeting point good. Although we had been on Segways before the guide took time to ensure all were competent before setting off on what was the best tour we have experienced. There was one person who had not been on a Segway before and he took time to reassure and encourage her and by the end she was as good as any of us!.
We went for the superior tour that lasted over 3 hours but was very interesting and fun. Our guide, Laszlo was really informative, enthusiastic and relaxed giving us plenty of opportunity to experience the joys of the Segway. Being able to zoom around Heroes Square was wonderful.
After 20 minutes the speed limiters were off yet all were fully in control and enjoyed probably the best way to see this beautiful City. I would strongly recommend this tour and this Company. We did see other "Segway" tours but they were not using proper Segways (they had Chunky Wheels) and some did not provide helmets, which is not something you want!

Overall this tour made our visit and many thanks to Laszlo who clearly loves his country and this came across in his guidance, many thanks from the people from Scotland as our accents were a challenge. Overall rating is Excellent.

Last week we made online reservations directly with Yellow Zebra and signed up for a 4-hour bike tour of Budapest (11-3pm) and Pub Crawl (9pm-1am) on Tuesday, followed by a Segway tour (4:00-5:30) on Wednesday.
We arrived for our bike tour on time and had a great experience with our tour guide Gabor Szabo! He was very well-informed and knows the city's history very well and makes it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Our group was very diverse and he was able to answer all of our questions and provide his opinion when asked about various political organizations in Hungary. He was kind enough to write down a few good Hungarian wine suggestions and authentic Hungarian restaurants near our apartment. We followed his suggestions which were absolutely perfect! The bikes were comfortable and the tour itself was interesting and not too exertive (for those of you that don't like to exercise too much...you will survive). I think it is best to do this tour on the first or second day of your trip. After the tour was over I double checked that the meeting point for the pub crawl that evening was "meeting point number 1" (as I was told when I made my reservation last week). It was lucky I asked because the meeting point was not where we were originally told and in fact we needed to go to a church (nowhere near the original meeting "point #1") and wait on the steps for our guide. I was then told that they don't do the pub crawl anymore so maybe they source it out...I'm not sure? Confusing and not very well organized ...

The pub crawl itself was enjoyable and we had a VERY cool tour guide (I can't remember her name) who recommended various places in the city for us to visit based on our interests. The free drink provided at each bar was a joke (basically a tiny drop of vodka mixed with some form of fruit juice) as I was expecting something authentic/Hungarian etc... but it didn't REALLY matter as you can order additional drinks as you wish...but just need to pay for them. The bars they selected were pretty cool and provided us with a good sample of the local Ruin Pubs here in Budapest. Most of the people of the tour were in their 20's...we were by far the oldest...but it wasn't at all weird.

Today was our Segway tour of the Buda side and we decided to go to the Yellow Zebra office again this morning just to confirm the meeting point - and AGAIN it was different from what we read when we made our reservations just last week. We had to change our afternoon plans because the meeting point was actually in Buda on the hill...not in Pest next to the Opera. In the end our tour guide for our Segway trip "Andi" created such a great experience that we will never forget. She was very professional and asked us a lot of questions so she could tailor the tour based on our interest level (i.e. more interested in history...or more interested in just having fun with the segway). It was our first time riding a Segway and she was able to show us quickly everything that we needed to know in order to be able to drive the Segway with confidence! :) She was super informative and able to provide all those interesting details and stories that make Budapest such an interesting place to visit. If you book a Segway tour with Yellow Zebra and want to learn a lot about the history - ask for Andi - she is the best!

The tour guides on our bike tour, bar crawl, and segway tour were VERY good. However out of three tours booked with Yellow Zebra...they provided me with the incorrect meeting location and if it wasn't for the fact that I happened to ask them in person once we arrived in Budapest - we could have missed two out of three tours!!! When I kindly pointed out that other tourist like myself might be having the same problem - the girl at the front desk said she would be sure to forward the information to the people who are in charge of reservations. There was no formal apology that twice we were misinformed and no sign that they were sorry. I wasn't going to write a review, but I had to just because our tour guides deserve recognition for the great job they are doing. If I could.... I would give 5 stars for the tour guides and 1 star for the company, but that is not possible. So if you book with Yellow Zebra - just confirm you have the right meeting location! I think Yellow Zebra is overstretched and no longer deserves to keep the great reputation that they had in the past when they were just focusing on doing the bike tours. Now it seems like they are trying to do everything without the resources and have so many different companies covering so many different tourist entertainment/tour options that you don't know who you are really working with in the end.
