Visitors to Budapest often count Hungarian cuisine as one of the most memorable parts of their trip. Culinary Hungary's intimate, in-home cooking classes allow you to learn to cook Hungarian in a relaxing environment. Add a market tour, wine tasting or both and you will end up with a one-of-a-kind, delicious Budapest experience. Hosts Agnes and Istvan, a native Hungarian couple, will guide you through Hungarian food and cooking techniques spiced up with interesting stories in their lovely Budapest apartment located in Buda. All lessons are hands-on and held in English. No cooking skills required. All classes are private, meaning you will not be paired with other travelers even if you are on your own. Lessons end with eating your very own home-cooked Hungarian meals. « less

This was one of the best experiences we had on our trip. Agnes communicated everything so thoroughly... from the possible menus to directions to her home to cooking the food itself. She greeted us from her balcony and ushered us into her home. Agnes & her husband Stephan welcomed us with coffee, water and some delicious appetizers. We chatted for... More

This is a wonderful introduction to Hungarian foods, cooking, and lifestyle. The market tour was educational, as well as tasty! The cooking lesson was hands-on without being too technical or overwhelming. By the end of the day, I believe you’ll feel as I do that you’ve become part of a wonderful family, shared a delicious meal, and have made new... More

As a "foodie" myself planning my visit to Budapest, I wanted to highlight my experience with a cooking class where I could learn not only about Hungarian culture, some history of their food, but traditional foods and cooking techniques. Agnes was so very kind arranging the class; I knew when we met at the Central Market I was in for... More

We decided to book this class from the reviews here but being the first time we have done any sort of similar class we did not know what to expect. What we got was great food, fun preparing it and a fantastic insight into Hungary. The market tour is a great way to start it off. Agi took us for... More

I booked a cooking class with Agnes while I was in Budapest the first week of March, and it was without a doubt one of the highlights of my trip. She is incredibly warm and inviting, and extends her knowledge of Hungarian cuisine, tradition and culture in a way that makes you feel like a friend, rather than a stranger.... More

Agnes made this experience wonderful. We did the market tour and cooking class, which I'd recommend. She taught us a lot about the food and culture of Budapest while being willing to answer all of our questions. It was great to get such candid exposure to what we were experiencing. The cooking class in her home was also a great... More

We visited just before Christmas when it was freeezing in Budapest! Aggi, her husband and their newest addition to their family greeted us warmly at the door. We were introduced to palinka and delicious canapes (hmmmm I'm salivating at the thought right now!) and felt at home instantly. Got straight to cooking and learnt new onion chopping skills, as well... More

Began with an informative walk through Market Hall. Agi is a talented local foodie/cook. We wandered through the entire market sampling local foods and learning about the food and culture. Do bring your appetite as you will eat all day. After we picked up our groceries we took a cab to her apartment. Also learned the local rules on cabbing...wish... More

Over the Christmas holiday, we traveled to Vienna, Salzburg, Budapest and Prague. Cooking with Agnes (Agi) was hands down one of our favorite experiences. We met Agi at the Central Market and shopped for our ingredients, then took at cab to Agi's cute apartment (appetizers were waiting for us !), cooked and enjoyed a gourmet meal accompanied by wine. While... More

We arrived in Budapest in the middle of a heat wave in July. Despite the heat, Agnes made our time together very enjoyable. She taught us the differences in paprika (never knew bell peppers were California paprika!) and shared information about her life in Budapest. It is one of our special memories in Budapest.
