Join our hands-on home cooking classes for a fun and interactive experience with an insight into history, culture, food, wine and tradition. Visitors to Budapest often count Hungarian cuisine as one of the most memorable parts of their trip. Culinary Hungary's intimate, in-home cooking classes allow you to learn to cook Hungarian in a relaxing environment. Add a market tour, wine tasting or both and you will end up with a one-of-a-kind, delicious Budapest experience. Hosts Agnes and Istvan, a native Hungarian couple, will guide you through Hungarian food and cooking techniques spiced up with interesting stories in their lovely Budapest apartment located in Buda. All lessons are hands-on and held in English. No cooking skills required. Lessons end with eating your very own home-cooked Hungarian meals.

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable day with Andrew preparing our lunch (and drinking wine of course). The dishes turned out great, and it was the best meal we had in Budapest. Just shows you don't need fancy equipment and fixtures to prepare a wonderful meal. Andrew is very nice and outgoing, and had everything set up before... More

Agnes is super quick to respond to e-mails and provide appropriate info. The highlight of our day was hanging out with Andrew - a great conversationalist and easy going. The market tour was impressive - you should have clear instructions to NOT eat breakfast before you go to this; because you will be eating a lot on the tour. The... More

Very nice experience. This was a good basic cooking class that gives you the real feel for traditional home cooking in Hungary. Agnes and Andrew were very flexible with scheduling, had great communication, overall it was a great experience. Andrew lead me through a private cooking class, with insight to local culture, foods and great conversation. I recommend this for... More

First, I was on a visit to Budapest and I wanted to learn about Hungarian cuisine. I must say that I was alone to participate in cooking classes. I met Andrew at The Great Market and it made me do a guided tour. The Great Market is a beautiful place, it's a place to discover. There was everything and more,... More

We did this cooking class with Andrew the second day we arrived into Budapest and it did not disappoint. We had a private class with just my husband and I and therefore the class was catered to us. We met Andrew at the big Central Market and were given a tour of the market and tastings of local food, all... More

A wonderful way to spend a day in Budapest. Andrew met us at The Great Market and invited us to try some Hungarian delicacies. He then gave us a tour while purchasing what we needed for our cooking lesson (bean soup, stuffed peppers and poppy seed bread pudding). Back at the apartment he taught us to prepare these dishes and... More

Both the market tour and cooking class were excellent. Thanks Andrew for a great day and thanks Agatha for the flexibility in setting it up. I will make a lot of Jókai been soup in the future.

Learning how to properly use and cook with paprika was only one if the many highlights of the class. Our walk thru the market was interesting and informative. Agi was wonderful at leading us thru several traditional dishes. It was one if the best cooking classes I've taken on a vacation.

We had such a great time touring the Central Market with Agi and cooking too! She went above and beyond altering our menu to satisfy my vegetarian diet but allowing my husband to enjoy meat dishes too. It was very interesting to visit a local apartment, immerse in the culture and spend a day shopping and cooking, just beware of... More

My sister and I took this cooking class together and it was our favorite thing we did the whole trip. Agi was very nice and explained things thoroughly as we went along. She was able to put together a delicious vegetarian menu for us of vegetable ragu, potato paprika and cottage cheese calls for dessert. Everything was so delicious! We... More
