The beautiful theatre had one of the besyt Opera I have ever seen - Carmen - sung beautifully, perfectly, by all participants. Singers were backed by a 50 piece superb Orchestra. Additionally, The Ballet: The Nutcracker, was also performed flawlessly, beautifully, and again the Orchestra was superb. Tickets are quite reasonable, and both experiences were welcome rays of sunshine while... More

My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing a fantastic performance of La Boheme at the Opera House. The building, inside and out, is stunning. The interior is spectacular and, unlike many other opera house that we have been to, the Lubljana Ballet and Opera House is relatively small. My guess would be that it seats about 500 guests.... Good quality singing and orchestra. Soprano particularly good. Large chorus very good also. Production values somewhat less than Royal Opera House London but then the prices were about a quarter of those in London. Acting the weakest part of the opera. However, a good experience well worth the money. Knowledgeable audience. Auditorium full. Opera bar opposite well worth a pre-opera... More

I went twice to the opera, to "Nabucco" and to the ballett "Giselle". For the Opera I had a 5 Euro-standing ticket. You get these only shortly before the start of the program (approx 1 hour before the sale starts) Go there and go in early, so you stand in the front row of the standing-space. you have a good... Sums it up, really. Recently renovated, but the orchestra, save a few bright exceptions among the soloists, is abominable. The singers however, on good nights, sing in tune.

We took a chance and although the performance was sold out before we left Australia we were able to get tickets at the box office. The opera house has been beautifully restored and improved - recently reopening. It is a small house and there are no bad seats in the stalls. The show was a complete Slovenian cast. The singers...
