It's a nice quiet place on the outskirts of Ljubljana center. The exhibition is modest but is arranged in a very interesting way. There are a few interactive attractions that are a lot of fun, even for adults. The staff is very kind and helpful. The National Museum shares a building with the Museum of Natural History and it is... More

Unfortunatly it is a very poor museum, indeed. It only worths if you really want to see a few things from slovenians artists. Very small.

But the space itself has a sense of faded glory about it, as do some of the collections. There's still some interesting stuff to see (including, oddly, an Egyptian mummy), but we went here because it was the only museum open on the Monday and it was free with the Ljubljana Card. Under other circumstances we might not have, and... More

Another large Ljubljana building, but only a small proportion is used as a national museum. On the first floor there is a splendid prehistoric to Iron Age treasures temporary exhibition. Much better than similar exhibitions on the British Museum. Good explanations in English. Some amazingly ancient artefacts. Next door is the Roman exhibition. Again - well displayed, with short videos... More

The National Museum shares a building with the Natural History museum. We visited both as they were both on our Tourist pass card but we soon cut short our visit to the Natural History section as it was dusty, dry and dull as ditchwater. Once you get into the National Musuem it has interesting exhibitions with artefacts including a neolithic... More

Very small with some artfacts from the iron and bronze ages up to the Romans. Nothing that you can see in a bigger museum elsewhere. The building is shared by this museum and that of natural history, but the entrance fee is separate. Did no like it.

Excellent collection with informative exhibits. Got in free as is usual on first sunday of every month. The current roman exhibition is excellent with some high quality exhibits. Found the young lady who explained the bird exhibits to us articulate and passionate about the subject. She even gave us highly animated directions to the zoo when asked. Im pretty sure... More

The staff here could not be more helpful. We had a short time before leaving town in a train, so they let us slip in a few minutes early and did our ticketing before they were officially open. That is almost unheard-of: and I have visited many, many museums and worked in two, so I know. We went to see... More

The temporary exhibition on the life of knights through the ages is fantastic and you coul easily spend a good few hours there. The permanent exhibitions are not as good unless you're really into the things they have on show. Tickets are €3
