So if you want to go up the mountain in the elevator you have to pay, and also if you want the FULL view of all Ljubljana you have to pay extra to enter the museum (don't do it pointless) You have a partial view of the other part of the city for free. My suggestion if you want to... More

Some people would be misled to expect that this is a castle. But for most of its existence it has been a fortress. As such you have to have other expectations. I personally enjoyed how it is arranged with good taste - there are great small museums and expositions there. Not to mention the great view from there. As a... More

The castle is simply beautiful from the city and as you walk to it there are lovely views to see. However, I was disappointed that the areas without charge were few. Otherwise, you have to pay for each exhibit to get inside the castle.

You can visit Ljubljana castle by different means at different times of a day or season. You will always find it interesting and if you have a chance to visit it in different times you will discover what is a castle willing to share with you or simply look on thy city down the hill. As I said you can... More

certainly worth a visit! there is a cable car that can bring you up there 2 euro. 10 euro would buy you a ticket both ways, plus access to all museums at the castle. You can also get there on foot, not a touch walk either. There is a plenty to see up there, and the views of the city... More

Amazing 360’ views of the city and mountains from the Tower. We visited the Castle with our young boys on a great tour called ''Time Machine’’. It is very informative 1 hour tour, also for as local from Ljubljana. Especially the history of the Castle and Ljubljana was presented in an very interesting way with 6 time stations + 6... More

We walked up to the castle which although steepish in places should not be a problem for the averagely fit. The castle area itself is free to visit but to go into any attraction attracts a fee. The castle itself has been rather 'touristified' by a lot of renovation and we feel it has lost some of its character from... More

We used the funicular to visit the castle fairly early in the morning, which let us beat the heat and crowds. Definitely worth making the climb to the top of the tower to get a great view of Ljubljana and the alps. Unless you're really into castles, plan on about an hour.
